You, and others, are making the assertion, not me. Thus, the onus is on you to prove that assertion.
My post may have been a bit off the mark. He never explicitly stated the 1500m was his goal. My general point remains the same though. He said his plan was to chase the A standard in Portland and then make up his mind from there. Then, in Portland, he missed the standard by less than a tenth. This meant that his mind was made up for him: 800m.
Either way, he went for the standard and missed it. And we are really speculating as to whether he has more upside in the event than the Olympic champion? The answer is NO, he does not. He may have more upside OVERALL, but not in the 1500. It's just not his event and there is nothing wrong with that.
