There's a reason Charlie Grice doesn't run more miles. He can't get in the big mile races.

1500 ofc
Does anyone care about the mile other than >=40 something Americans?
World class athletes who know there's still money it (Oslo for example) are interested. Centro should pursue both the 1500 and mile records, but he's likely not good enough to run 3:46 in the mile. If he CAN run that fast and set the AR in the mile, he may be the last native born Yank to run sub 3:50 as most American men these days have such feminine mannerisms and are completely intimidated on the international stage when it comes to middle and long distance running. Not all, just most.

Which is more important for Centro's legacy; American record in the 1500 or American record in the full mile?
BOTH would be ideal. If you can get the 1500 you should be able to get the Mile or visa versa but the MILE would be the best. Holds more prestige and historical value. Everyone knows the Mile and have run it at one time or another either in grade school or high school. That being said, Matt has already achieved the greatest 1500m legacy by winning the Olympic Gold Medal. The Mile AR would be the icing on the cake.
yep, that would have been hard to miss. i follow the running scene every day.he doesn't have a gold medal in the 1500m though, but has a much better pb that centro, who has a gold medal. - that's what i wrote....not how many gold medals farah has.why did you feel obligated to type something out unrelated to what i wrote? you wanted to show you know facts?anyway, if you like stating random mo farah quotes, here's one (which i'm sure everyone already knows)mo farah was born in somalia!

Uh... you do know that Mo has 4 Olympic gold medals?
1500m
An American born runner hasn't had the American Record in the 1500 since 1985.
Doesn't matter. Centro is a non factor in attempting at either one. He is more than 3 seconds off both and is past his prime. Even at his prime his strength was tactics and not time trials.
Like someone above said, both would be amazing. I would say that the 1500m should be prioritized first because
a) it's a championship event
b) personally I think it's weaker than Webb's 3:46, but I guess you could debate that
c) he's got the potential to drop a tiny bit over a second from his PR, I don't see him shaving over 3 seconds from his Mile time
d) also as mentioned above, if he can go for the 1500m record the Mile would be closer to his reach, kinda climbing the ladder
Centro's better/best event is the 1500, so it should be more important to get that record. If he can't get what he's best at, then wtf
I feel like the AR for the mile will be more important for Centrowitz because the American public will be able to relate more to the mile record.
He must chase the appearance fee money.
Did Big Matt ever get his "My son has an Olympic Gold Medal" Tattoo ?

US General public don't know/care about 1500m.
Are you implying that they are about the mile? Seems far fetched.
Centro will finish the season with 3:46.92 full mile
Mile is worth more, but doubtful he can even win the Pre Mile on his home track, let alone get the US record. Since the mile is not always run, making it even more special and elusive, I doubt he can run 3:46. He's the opposite of Webb, being a great tactician and rising to big occasions. Yet, Centro is also opposite to Webb in that he's more likely to run a 3:56, than a 3:46, in a time trial mile record attempt in a nothing meet.
He's 1500m Olympic gold was AWESOME! The US record in either the 1500m or mile is nothing compared to his Olympic gold.

This.
Webb had the raw power and speed in a time trial that allowed him to get the American record in the mile, but choked at nearly every (international) championship he went to. Centro, on the other hand, might run 3:51-3:53 on a good time trial, but could navigate his way through rounds for days and is very well suited to championship racing.
