It was unblieveable I tell you. I am looking up Tim's 411 as soon as I can.

ok well...i hope this doesn't get anyone flamed too bad...i dug out my bib from that race. first off, the date was actually 7/2/1994. there were 1320 finishers that night. i ran 17:13 and finished 140th. someone who is astute at dredging up race results might want to compare that to other high profile 5ks to see how often that time would come in 140th. i still stand by my recollection of the 5th place finisher- from new zealand- running sub 14. there may even have been 6 guys that did it.

Andrew Smith was something like 10th at WXC.
Pretty sure Andrew Smith has never placed nearly that high at world XC. In fact, I'm not sure that he's ever even been (although he has been on other national teams). Are you thinking of Paul Morrison?
'94 - I remember that race. I hit the line in 14:05 and don't think I even cracked the top 10. [quote]stumbler wrote:

Whoops, sorry, I forgot a 0. He was 100th or so. ;)
Can someone NAME this race?
But it has been worth it. You just apologize and drive on.....The message boards and internet have done more for distance running than anything else I can think of!
i do it in life all the time
its like, oh shit, whyd i say that
I remember running a "Globe & Mail 5K" in '97 or '98, that was pretty big. I'm not sure how long it had been in existence, but it might have been the same race you're talking about.

ahar...f you. it really happened, i swear.
Hey less of the snobby Brit comments, you might regret that later :o) Of course I was Brit born and raised hence my reaction to your post! I post as who I am ,always, so that way it keeps me more accountable not to blast away with both barrels under some stupid alias....

then everybody knows you're just another snobby brit!
i work for a brit and he is a snob! i'm sure it is a coincidence though...
Of course it is, the trouble is we have such refined accents and so inevitably we get classed as snobs, it even happened to me growing up in England. Because my pronounciation was the" Queen's English" clearly spoken I was type cast right away by some. However it works to my advantage in the US because my job involves phone work and a ton of it, I am usually well listened to :o)
