If Linden was smart, she would act like Meb and do the exact opposite of what she's doing now. Set expectations low, hope the other competitors don't respect you, and take off from the pack at mile 5 alone.
Instead, she's tooting her horn like a five year old. She has no chance to win. Zero.
Now, if she told Runners World she was mulling retirement, not responding to training, and knows she's not really a contender anymore, then perhaps there could be a scenario where they let her take off from the pack. That window is closed now.
The only marathon runner who can back up their smack talk is Kipchoge. That's the whole list. Everyone else should keep their goals to themselves. Fly under the radar. Let your results talk for once.
