why the hell do athletes delude themselves into thinking they have the right to be treated a certain way that no other profession in the world does. stop acting like spoiled brats and just focus on your craft. the reason i used to like track and field was because it was a sport where the athletes just worked hard and performed without the drama and entitlement of other sports. do they think any other job in the real world is ideal. they're in for a shocker when they retire and need to find other jobs. there are inconveniences, grievances, uncomfortable human relationships, deadlines, heavy workloads, long hours, stresses in every other profession as well. we're all trying to make a living to make the world run properly. stop complaining and show up. i'm not talking about the struggling athletes trying to get livable endorsement deals. the top athletes in each event have a privilege to be able to train in a sport they are gifted in while they are young. if you're going to protest, do it in a productive, dignified way without complaining in a veiled facebook post. what the hell does that accomplish?
the brown M&Ms are the best ones
I don't know. But what I do know is that all of this could have been avoided if they just brought the bowl of M&M's like how she requested AND at the designated time. C'mon USATF.

She is on twitter giving live updates of the men's pole vault final, of course.
800m real women need to do some protest like this.

It amazes me that you are blaming the media.
Being a little generous, aren't we rojo? You're "the media" now? LOL
On a less troll-y note....
Many of your articles read like blog posts. You write click-bait headlines and put personal projections in place of facts. I consider the brojos decent, if sometimes annoying, bloggers. I don't think you're a legit media outlet.
The criticism over this particular blog post is warranted. You printed "Another USA's... Controversy" on your front page and yet there are no facts to support the title. How do you consider this journalism?
Did Jenn Suhr pull out of Millrose or one of the meetings earlier this year too?Why is Demi Payne not vaulting?
As if Morris wasn't enough bad news for Suhr:

That is exactly what I was doing :)
USATF has a meet
USATF sets the rules
like it or not that is the reality of the situation
she wants to stay home to prove a point
the point she proves is >>>
USATF will allow her to stay home
Jenn Suhr will be at home divastated just like Kara Goucher.

I hope this is not a publicity stunt. She doesn't seem like the type.

She defines "that type." Drama, drama, drama, Hourly updates about every sickness, etc.
Apparently part of her issue is that when they start so low she has to wait a ton to come in and doesn't get any warm up run throughs. I believe this is an everything(IAAF, USATF) issue. I could see that being a complaint but instead of trying to get starting heights higher and limiting the second tier of your sport why not try to work in something to get run throughs like every other level of the sport.

Im not sure how many of you have a ever seen her at a big meet with her husband/coach. Its something to behold, the constant go to the fence for advice, the glazed look over to him, the crazy prancing about, an innocent bystander would say , wack job. Now she is posting excuses/rants for not going to nationals. A fair and equal playing field? As somebody has an advantage over her? The only complainers might be the distance folks having altitude to deal with, sprinters, jumpers, throwers no issues.
Easy guess the competition has surpassed her. She is no longer queen bee of the vault.
If she is on any type of national team financial support, I would suggest it be reduced for not attending a national championship as it should all athletes.
I don't when this all started. I know that back int he day it was illegal to be coached in a comp, and various methods to disguise it were developed. Then I came over here and people were playing music on jumps, and trying to involve the crowd. More energy is spent on the preamble than the jump.
I don;'t know about her, vaulters were always flakes. But this other stuff need to stop.

Low starting heights are an issue for great vaulters. She is a great vaulter.
Some of these comps start early and finish in the dark. That is a problem.
No it is not reasonable for her to do run throughs every 20 minutes to keep warm. It has nothing to do with her vaulting, only her running. And in a comp, soon as she steps on the track she has a set time to JUMP. Not jog.
The issue is they don't have enough quality jumpers. They should set a reasonable start height. If you can't make it, you shouldn't be at the nationals. But I suspect while the other competitors can't vault, they do look good.
Its always been a problem with vaulting, but it seems, in her view, its been made worse. I doubt her legacy will depend on national titles. So good for her for standing up for the quality of the event.
Rick Suhr released a statement on his Facebook this morning:
Media, for real!! How inaccurate can it get? Can anyone just print anything! Jenn posted to improve issues for athletes, she simply asked to be heard...that's all. She stood up for what she believed...and now all the backlash fueled from the most inaccurate media. Even major media. At no point in her post were the words "protest", "progression", "field size", "unicorn" or "UFO" used. THIS HAD NOTHING TO DUE WITH ANY OF THAT! All invented by haters who just love to hate. My advise to media is being accurate gives you credibility, and more importantly keeps you from legal action. Jenn and I will keep our issues here private and they will go to the right people. Always stand up for what you believe! WHAT YOU STAND FOR MEANS MORE THAN WHAT YOU WIN!
