It looks like Lock Haven University is set to cut Men's Track & Field and Women's Swimming. Another one bites the dust.
Whatever - we are all going down - might as well cut all the programs, it won't matter in the end.
like cambridge and oxford.

But less than mediocre football is better than no football at all. A university without a football team is essentially a community college.
I don't think anyone is going to confuse places like Providence, Marquette, Manhattan, etc with community colleges. .
Alumni and community organizing can save the team. I saw it happen locally not long ago. If enough people care and come up with the money, the team can survive.

About five years ago the Men's program at my university was cut. When the Alums came up with the money the school turned it down. They said it would be a bad precedent.
Anybody with a remote interest in football is hitching a ride to Penn State in that area. Lockhaven has always been a great host to the NIRCA teams nearby and I hope they keep it together. Just raced yinz at Susquehanna
Anybody have a link to a story or more info on this? I'm an alum and this is the first I'm hearing about it.

Say what?? Some of the best universities in the country have no football program. See MIT and Caltech.
Petition anywhere?

Sorry, but where and what is the track powerhouse known as Lock Haven?
It's a little state school in north-central Pennsylvania. I think they had three guys qualify for the Olympic trials over the last two or three Olympic cycles. (Alex Monroe, Nick Hilton, Ryan Blood). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. They also have D2 All-Americans pretty much every year.

So true.
Yes a great Coach and an even better person in Aaron Russell. He is an alum and pours his soul into the program for his kids. They have been a mainstay on the D2 XC National scene for years now. As a fellow coach I have the utmost respect for their program and sincerely hope that they can find a way to keep things going.

Thank you for the response, my sister and I will be sure to visit.
Either demonstrate your value as a coach or expect your program to be cut.
Either donate to your alma mater/favorite team or expect your program to get cut
Expecting ADs to keep you around because your team has a decent GPA is ridiculous. Money and influence are all that matters. You need to get more donations and produce more audience-focused events. You'll never get cut if the community and your alumni are involved enough.
They fundraised more money than any other team during the annual LHU All in fundraiser. But please tell me more about our alum and community.
