Trump made four calls to grieving families of fallen soldiers. Only 1- Myeshia Johnson claims he was less than professional & caring (who happens to be friends with a race baiting Trump hater, Congresswoman Wilson).
Whatever dude.
Here is how it went down:
1) Kelly advised Trump what to say to this widow.
2) Trump used most of the words that Kelly told him to say, but he didn't do so in the most artful way (because he lacks empathy to be able to do that), and the widow and the Congresswoman who was there were both offended.
3) The Congresswoman makes public what Trump said.
4) Trump denied he said it (lie).
5) Kelly confirms that he told Trump basically to say what he was accused of saying, but Kelly gave it more reference and so it didn't sound bad coming from him. This is proof that Trump lied about saying it to begin with.
What went wrong:
1) Trump making a call to families of fallen soldiers. Trump has all the cuddly warmth of a porcupine. He is incapable of performing this particular duty (and a whole lot of other ones) to a level that is required.
2) Congresswoman should not have made it public. I agree that that should be a private moment, and while it is fine with me if the widow allowed her to listen, it was bad form to make it public. While she had a right to get mad, this is a minor thing compared to what other things Trump has done and will do right out in the open, so this should have stayed under her stupid hat.
3) Trump lying about saying it. He later had Kelly come out and confirm that that is exactly what he told Trump to say. Again, Trump isn't smart enough to understand nuance or empathetic enough (or not at all) to make that call effectively.
4) Kelly lying about what the Congresswoman had said in the past (confirmed by video of her NOT doing what he said she did).
What should have happened:
1) Trump shouldn't have called her at all...send a letter that is crafted by a wordsmith that he then signs.
2) Congresswoman shouldn't have made it public.
3) Trump should have said, "Yes, that is what I said, but I didn't mean to offend. I was trying to let her know much gratitude the country and I have for his service, and I was trying to get across to her that he died a hero, doing what he loved, what he felt called to do. I am sorry if I have caused any pain. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect." BUT, Trump is actually incapable of such thought and action.
4) Kelly should not have lied about the Congresswoman.
What should happen in the future:
1) Trump should not call families of fallen soldiers. Doesn't matter if a few of them said he did fine. This is not something at which he is skilled.
