I started out thinking that way about the Trump family, especially about Melania, but their continued actions of incompetence, cruelty, lying, and unabashed grifting has made me change my mind, even with regard to Melania. There are lots of flawed people who recognize that they are flawed, and they do all they can to try to fix those flaws. The Trumps do not recognize it. Unfortunately they are in a position of power...not just Donnie, but all of the idiot adult children. We can not risk having another Trump rise to the level of President. At some point, feeling sorry for someone who wasn't loved has to end when what they do is so dangerous.
INCORRECT!
Having empathy toward another human being does not imply enabling their misdeeds. Lacking empathy for others, even deeply flawed others, makes us less human.
Generally speaking, I agree with your point. I can't go there with the Trumps though. Too cruel, too uncaring, too dangerous. Lots of people were unloved growing up. Not all of them turned into cruel grifters. Also, where do we draw the line about what caused them to be like they are? Some horrible people WERE loved. It appears Trump has always given Ivanka love (as much as he is capable of that), and she's as horrible as the rest of them.
Also, they haven't fallen all the way just yet. I AM capable of feeling empathy for them once they do...especially upon seeing how they react to it all.
If you want to say I'm a flawed human because I can't feel empathy for them right now, fine. I don't think that makes me flawed, but I don't care enough to argue with you about it.
