A larger concern for the future.....
How does a man without any political experience, obvious questionable business practices, and grossly negative intangibles get elected in the first place?
How do we prevent that from happening again ? Likewise, as socialism becomes more mainstream how do we prevent a hardcore socialist from becoming president?

Not that a perfect storm can't happen again, but Trump's election in 2016 was indeed a perfect storm.
1) After two terms of Democrat Obama, it was a change election.
2) Hillary was hated by many (and she still won the popular vote despite that).
3) Hillary was and is a woman. Our country as a whole is just not yet ready for a female President.
4) Trump's need for applause gave the impression (even to me at that point) that he was a hard worker. His narcissism really help him there.
5) Trump cheated by committing FELONY Campaign Finance Law violations.
6) Coordinated release of her e-mails. The e-mails didn't even have anything disqualifying in them, and most people didn't even read them. It was just assumed that they were really bad by most.
7) Jim Comey factor.
8) Trump had an image of great financial success going into the campaign.
9) Racists were worked up over Obama as President for 2 terms, and Trump fed them.
10) Trump ends up winning by about 70,000 votes in the right states.
Did Hillary make some mistakes? Sure. She should have campaigned more, especially in those Midwestern states. She should not have called half of the Trumpers "deplorables" even though they are.
This same kind of mistake will not happen again in the near term or maybe even ever. Other mistakes perhaps.
