I think he was referring to cocaine in that situation.

He's making a good attempt though.
Long time since I heard him , wow...he talks about the virus like its another political opponent, talks as if he is taking the lead on it.
How can a man so dumb, naive , ill informed , yet so egotistic be the leader of anything, let alone the USA?
The Dow is now less than 1500 points above where it was when Trump assumed office.
At this point it is clear that you are simply wasting my time. Still, I wish you well.
Good day, sir.

2. You don't know how long this will last. It could be that we are entering a multi-year global recession on the back of this issue.
You are better off buying once we see some confirmation that the bottom is in.
Or, I can just trickle in money a little bit at a time on its way down, and not worry about where the bottom is. I don't know how long it will last, but as long as it's less than 15 years, I'm satisfied with the money I'm putting in now.
I'm not trying to catch a falling knife. It sounds like you are. You're trying to look for the confirmation of the bottom. I just invest a little bit more when the market is going down. Let's say I put in 20% of my income when times are good. When times are bad, I put in 22%. Not a huge change. But, in general, I do see this whole crisis as a buying opportunity. Or an opportunity to increase your buying.

If you're holding stock for the long-term, there is no better time to buy than when we have a downturn in the market.

Also correct. It's hard to know when we have hit bottom and you don't need to buy at the bottom to be successful. Just know that you are getting a big discount on stocks and that you are willing to hold on for several years.
Some more (obvious) advice. If you haven't maxed out your tax-advantaged investing opportunities like a 401k, then do that first.
It’s funny watching people try to avoid blaming trump. They coddled/voted for him, and they wish there was some way to save face.

Very true. You don't know where the bottom is. Again, the markets tank because of uncertainty. Once we understand how bad, or maybe not so bad, this Coronavirus is, the markets should recover with relative alacrity. The number of new cases in Wuhan, where it originated, is for the first time in single digits. The Coronavirus hates three things: sunlight, high temps and humidity. Down here in Texas, where the Rodeo was just cancelled, we are about to see two of those in spades. If this is indeed a seasonal virus this thing could end quite quickly. I am not predicting that, it could get very bad, but again, when we understand how to manage it, the uncertainty will vanish and the markets will rebound very quickly. It may happen fairly soon, or it may not happen for some time. I am still holding to my prediction that the markets will have recovered pretty well by July or August.
Trolliminator - one more thing (you can ignore this advice) but you have no idea where the bottom is. You can't time the market and you can't stock-pick it either. It has taken a huge hit, but IT WILL go back up substantially. If you have cash sitting around, but some now, and buy more in a few weeks and more in two months. Again, you will make a lot even if you don't buy at lows.

It is also pathetic for the mainstream media try to exacerbate this already bad pandemic just for political reasons, i.e., damage Trump's re-election prospects. Just pathetic how they are harming the country for mere political reasons.

I wouldn't put anything past that man either, and I agree with you on diminished expectations of many Americans. Trump is a lawless President, so it is completely conceivable he will do anything he can legally or otherwise to stay in office longer than he should be allowed.
Trump doesn't have the unilateral right to suspend the election. It would have to be approved by Congress.
Yes, but there are other rights he doesn't have either that he has trampled on. He was not allowed to hold back documents asked for by The House, and he did. We have an Attorney General who believes the President, any President, has supreme authority, so Trump may just declare a national emergency and dare the courts to tell him otherwise. Takes time to enforce something like that. He might not be successful, but I didn't say he would. I said I wouldn't put anything past him and that it is conceivable he will do anything to stay in power longer than he should be allowed. Would not shock me at all if he tries to pull something that would delay or cancel the election. Again, doesn't mean he will be successful. I will be shocked actually if he doesn't at least throw out a trial balloon to see what the reaction is as we get close.

I don't even like Trump. No matter what Trump had done to deal with this, you Liberals were going to criticize him for it. You are revelling in the fall of the stock market. Admit it Jesse. We are about to have a huge recession here in Houston with the fall of oil prices. We as Americans need to come together instead of all this partisan crap.

If he were to do a good job at something, I would acknowledge it. However, he’s an ignorant narcissist who is incapable of empathy or normal, rational thought, so I’m not holding my breath.

You cracked me up there. Biden has performed a sort of modesty topos, like a Medieval monarch, by referring to unity. But his behavior with voters who ask him simple questions suggests he has zero interest in meaningfully engaging with the left wing of his party. Like a good peasant, I will make my obeisance in November and make a little tribute, but he is unlikely to lose, and as I lifelong Democrat, I don't think Biden has anything but contempt for voters like me because no matter what he says, his voting record does not support any notion of unity with working people.

You are an idiot. You love Trump. That much is clear. A virus is not partisan. It's not a "phony" virus as you say. Americans can not come together when the leader of our country is an idiot who has no leadership ability and is the most divisive President we have ever had. You are so dumb it is beyond shocking. You really need to stop posting.

Question for you, Jeff. Has Trump done ANYTHING in 3-plus years that you have given him credit for? I know that most of the mainstream media has not. Their job is not to provide news anymore it is to hurt the re-election chances of Trump. When did you ever say anything complimentary about Trump? Because I have yet to see one instance of that having occurred by you LIbs.

Smoburn - are you posting from a loony bin? Every one of your posts is riddled with insults. How can anyone post such garbage 24/7? Seriously, dude. Put your big-man pants on and post something with relevance and substance. You have made a mockery of yourself with your repeated garbage. Give it a rest, dude.

You are right. There is nothing positive about Trump. He has no good qualities at all and is in fact a cancer to our country. His idiot supporters are the metastasis.
