After a great day of NFL action with an Eagles win & a Cowboys loss (an excellent combination) I'm back to make the LR lib heads explode.
Trump’s impeachment: its all bullshit and not only will he NOT get impeached, but he’ll also get re-elected (there have only been about 10 single term presidents ever, so the odds are stacked in his favor). I see another flop for the Clownpole.
The Trade War: China has so much more to lose than us. They steal our intellectual property. We can impose tariffs on them, we can force Chinese companies to delist from American stock exchanges, which would cost them billions & we can incentivize American companies to withdraw from China (like Apple, who’s moving their Mac factory from China to Texas) .
Plus there has been civil unrest of Chinese citizens who are BEGGING for democracy (which is the American way) and this puts a ton of pressure on the Chinese leadership.
Trump WILL strike a deal with China and it will favor America.
Right now the economy is strong.
More people have jobs than ever before.

Crazy Bernie is an old socialist with a bad ticker- he should retire

1) You are CORRECT to give me that point. I am proud of you for admitting that.
2) We have campaign finance laws that say what he did was a felony (with regard to UKRAINE and CHINA...not even counting the FELONY he committed in 2016 that Cohen is in prison for). It must also be noted, that to be impeached, you do NOT need to commit a crime, though it DOES appear he has at least broken campaign finance laws, and it is VERY possible they might find he committed extortion and/or bribery.
3) An impeachment is NOT a reversing of an election, so you have a faulty premise to being with (Clinton doesn't become President, and we don't go back to Obama, so it's not a reversal of an election). Secondly on this point, even if you were right about all of us just going after him since he was elected, WE HAVE A NEW ACTION BY HIM!!! If someone is accused of murder and is acquitted and then the next day they commit a murder, they can be and should be arrested for that crime, REGARDLESS of past history with that person. Digest and grasp that, brother, because your "objection" here as you spelled it out makes no sense. While I have said he deserves impeachment for a long time now, there are LOTS of others who have just come to that conclusion, including the general populous.
4) I AM invested in the outcome. I never said otherwise. YOU though are also. Here's why I am invested -- I am an American, and he's a criminal, he's a serial liar, he has put our national security in jeopardy by using American tax payer money as an illegal bargaining chip to help him personally. His call had NOTHING to do with American interest...only HIS personal interest, and that is not permitted, it is EXACTLY what the Federalist Papers are about, it breaks campaign finance laws, goes against his oath of office and likely other things I have left out. We can not have US politicians asking either secretly or out in the open for a foreign government to interfere in our elections.
It is wrong of you to continue to support him. He is BY FAR the most corrupt President we have ever had.
He WILL be impeached by the House (unless he resigns or dies first or there is space alien or criminal behavior that prevents it). We will see if Republicans have the balls to do what they should. We can't allow a President to behave like this, and you might be disappointed that Trump has, but you know I'm right.

Privilege is NOT illegal...if it were, Jared and Ivanka would never be allowed to do ANYTHING in an official capacity for the White House. What Trump is accused of here (and he not only admitted but then did so in front of cameras) is illegal.

You have to prove intent. Investigating a political rival is fine if it's for the good of the country, if it's actually about corruption. If it's just because he's a political rival then yes it's illegal.
Good luck proving intent. We've been down this road before with Mueller.
Alan
Actually you don't have to prove intent, though intent is easy to prove here. Federal Campaign Finance laws state that you can not do what Trump did, and it is a FELONY to do what he did.
Intent is SUPER easy here -- he says he's for stamping out corruption, and Ukraine is FILLED with corruption, but the ONLY thing he wants to investigate there has to do with his political rival. First of all, there is NO evidence that either Biden did anything illegal, and second of all, there are TONS of things that are HUGELY corrupt and WAY worse in Ukraine than the privilege of Hunter Biden sitting on a board.
Let's not forget that they covered it up too. By putting these call reports in that super secret server, it should consciousness of guilt.

FP is usually good with this stuff, so this might be an auto-complete error.
Or not.
Surprising take by Tucker Carlson:
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/10/tucker-carlson-criticizes-trump-ukraine-call.htmlAll this stuff about Shiff, Hunter Biden, 1st hand vs 2nd hand, 33,000 emails, etc. is irrelevant. The only legitimate defense is to admit Trump did a bad thing but claim it doesn't warrant removal from office.

I make typos AND use the wrong word on occasion. You are correct, I used the wrong "populace" there. I have never said I was perfect...am DAMN close to perfect, but yet NOT perfect.
Your last sentence is right on. Carlson is trying to appear like he is criticizing Trump, but he then compares it to other things Trump has done and calls it "over the top". NO...it is not "over the top". It is illegal and anti-American. There is no way to defend Trump's behavior, so yes, you are correct...he is trying to APPEAR like he is being critical but then saying it doesn't warrant either impeachment OR removal from office. No credit to Carlson here. He's a loser, and he is supporting a loser President.

IMO intent might be hard to nail when it comes to whether trump had direct involvement in delaying the funding. Did he give the order to delay, or was he aware of the delay, did he explicitly discuss this plan to withhold funding, etc? Otherwise the other aspects of intent are pretty clear based on his call. Again, this process doesn’t mimic a normal judiciary process. It’s all about the political spin and what sticks. We have a more corrupt president than Nixon and he might get away with it.

No one other than Congress, as a group, can delay funding. The only other person who can attempt a funding delay is Trump. Not a single White House staffer can do it, including the Vice President. "The buck stops with Trump," to paraphrase Harry Truman.

I believe the testimonies of the diplomats will make it clear that Trump wanted to withhold the military aid until an investigation of Biden was begun and that it was communicated to the Ukrainians. The diplomats will not lie for Trump.

This little man actually has this for a goal. This failed troll is failing miserably and its sad.
1. A President has never won re-election with such a high average disapproval rating (using Gallup for historical comparisons.
2. Trump has been waiting for China to blink for how long now? They won't blink. Trump will lose IA because of the tariffs.

Yet this "goal" is entirely in line with the sentiments of many (not all) GOPers: More than anything else, they want other people to feel bad.
We see this every time that one of them trots out a video of Election Night 2016. For them the absolute high point of the Trump presidency was his winning it, because it made some people distraught. For them no Trump policies or programs can match, or even approach, their joy of that night...their joy in seeing other people sad.
Meanwhile, this four-year presidential term is more than 2/3 complete. Lots has been happening, some of it impeachable. Donald Trump won in 2016, fair and square, and impeachment-and-removal couldn't "undo" that; but the Schadenfreuders are not that far off when they use the word, because some of the conditions for the libs' discomfort would be removed.
Impeachment and removal would not undo the 2016 election; it's the Schadenfreuders, the GOPers whose main delight is remembering the pain of others, who would be undone.
Good morning! How are all you LRC stable geniuses doing this fine AM?
Fat boy claims to abandon Kurds in Syria, so everybody will have to pay attention to him (he hopes).
By doing so, abandoning even R’s, he’s gonna force them into impeachment mode, too.
These traitors put on quite a show.
