What are the ramifications of trying to prevent people from seeking asylum? What are the international laws associated with it? What can Mexico do? The vast majority of those seeking asylum aren't Mexican.
You can't stop people from seeking asylum. The alternative is people coming though via other means. At least by seeking asylum at ports of entry you can identify and track to some extent.

Mexico can give them temporary shelter, and ask asylum interview to be conducted in US embassy in Mexico City or one of the Consulate General's offices. Or for that matter, why can't Mexico give them asylum?
And Mexico is going to build and pay for these shelters? For people seeking asylum in the US? These people don't want to live in Mexico, they want to live in the US. I'll have to seek out statistics but it's highly likely they have friends or family already here.
I've also worked with many guys who came from that area and joined the US Army so they could get citizenship.
I've said this before.....we need more shelters, more beds, more judges, more processing capacity. Speed up the process. I would much rather we have 2 million asylum seekers come over than 1 single person climb over a wall. If you come through a point of entry then we can identify and process.
