I am sorry if you misplaced your thinking cap today.
So in 2008 Obama’s lack of experience was a negative but in 2016 Trump’s lack of experience is a positive?
Many people do not like politicians and so they want a regular joe or someone with different experience running things, People forgot that politicians come from various backgrounds to include law and business.
The Trump presidency is not that far removed from a Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho presidency.

When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental — men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion, and whose dominant emotion is dread of what they cannot understand. So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack or be lost... All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
― H.L. Mencken
So it is quite insightful that Obama represents the inner soul of one half and Trump that of the other half.
Ann Coulter recently tweeted:
There are a million things to trade for a wall: A higher federal minimum wage, an infrastructure bill, a solar panel bill. Trade a wall for AMNESTY, and there's no purpose to having a wall.
That's not such a terrible idea.
$5 billion for the wall in exchange for:
* $15/hr minimum wage
* Modernization of the electric grid
* Money for roads, bridges, and transportation
* Removal of solar panel tariffs
I'd go for that.

I've been saying this for a long time
there is a lot of common ground out there - but trump is too dumb and scared of right wing media to get things done.
a few hundred wasted miles of wall, fine, for good stuff.
the problem is that we can't let him think that he should shut down the gummint every time he doesn't like what congress has done.

Which is why the Dems are saying open the government then we can deal. If Trump gets his wall now it shows that Congress is limp and can be held hostage for future presidents.

As has been stated several times in this thread previously, the company in question is Saudi Aramco. This has to do with the billions the Saudi's have given to Trump via Kushner's ties with MBS.

The shutdown has already exceeded the cost of the wall that Trump is requesting. But Pelosi and Schumer will never give in one iota on any funds for the wall even though they supported the wall year ago. They despise Trump so much they will allow hardworking Americans to suffer just to deny Trump his wall. Despicable on their part.

You are a moran. One month ago Republicans controlled both sides of Congress and sent a ready to sign funding bill to Trump that provided the $1.6B Trump asked for as part of his 2019 budget. For 2018, Trump FAILED to spend the money he was given for the wall.
The despicable ones here are Trump and the Repukes. Why created the fire? Trump. Who said they would sign the spending bill? Trump. Who got the $1,6B they request for 2019? Trump.

True. The most disgusting and despicable ones here are Trump and McConnell.
McConnell will not send anything to Trump to sign unless Trump approves. That implies that even if 80 Senators say they will approve of a bill, unless Trump says he will sign it McConnell will not allow a vote on it.
Trump is holding the American government hostage over his wishes.
You know who else takes hostages?
Terrorists.
You know how to negotiate with terrorists?
You don't.

Correcto- plus it is true that he is trying to negotiate something he took away in the first place, terrible offer. GOP/Trump shutdown that they need to undo for everyone to move on.

That’s scary and not in a good way for either party. It’s like a blank check to allow any Dem in office only because he/she is not Trump.
We don’t need a “not-Trump” in the same way we don’t need a “not-Clinton” or “not-Obama”.
Alan
While I don't share your same idea that this is "scary", you are right that basically right now almost any Democrat has it over Trump. I believe we benefit from a strong two-party system, and right now the GOP has been weakened by Trump. That's what they get not just for voting for him, but for continuing to support him and not even admonishing him in the way they should have.

Different deal today...House is led by Democrats, and elections have consequences. Donald Trump owns this shutdown 100%. He said it himself, and that's really maybe the only thing he has ever been right about.
Regarding despising Trump, only someone who is immoral wouldn't. He's a racist. He's a sexist. He has nearly 20 women who have accused him of sexual assault and/or harassment. He directly attacks the rule of law. He directly attacks the First Amendment. He is a serial liar. He's a criminal. He's an a$$hole. He has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. People who are despised need to look in the mirror to see why.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
