Wait there are springs in my legs? Shouldn't that be illegal?

I don't think this would be as big of an issue if Nike would have made it an even playing field for ALL NIKE sponsored athletes. However they clearly have been trying to give AMERICAN NIKE athletes an advantage at Oly Trials and Rio. Very sad.

Hahahaha! Ummmm...no. Did you not see Kipchoge? Just a tidbit as well...all athletes competing at the US Oly Trials are AMERICAN.

It's true wrote:These aren't just custom trainers with extra cushioning, cushioning robs you of energy, these are springs designed to create force. This is absolutely happening and it's an open secret in the industry that Nike is doing this. It's a competitive advantage and against the rules. Unfortunately, once records are broken and races are won it'll be too late, the damage will be done. Even if the shoes are declared illegal by the IAAF the publicity will be enormous and Nike will win again. The Addidas technology is different and doesn't involve springs.
Designed to create force. Wow.
Agreed. Just amazing how people talk out of their @$$es here.
I have a pair of these

If Nike is going to release these shoes, won't they do a round of wear testing first?
If anybody here is a Nike wear tester and gets that model, they should cut it in half and see what's going on. Only consequence is that you never get to be a wear tester anymore. But you'll be the hero of letsrun

You're referring to the prototype version of the Zoom Streak 6 that most of the Nike sponsored marathoners have been wearing for the last 15 months or so.
I hear that they're supposed to be available to the public later this year. As far as the technology I'm not going to comment except that it's not a spring in the shoe.
Out this summer.
Named after an old Nike racer.
Some will love them, some will continue to prefer what adi are doing,
Between Nike actually coming up with something, adidas continuing to be brilliant, Hoka and On actually doing things differently and so on, shoes on offer in 2017 will be the best in many years. (Ever?)
This said, no one's breaking 2 hours. They're not that amazing, and Eliud Kipchoge isn't that good.

Nike Mayfly. Supposedly $300 retail.

No need, they've been revealed.
If they are so great, why was Rio so slow? Why was the WR not broken either? They call them 4%, but they aren't 4% better than the adidas WR shoe!

They aren't spring loaded at all. As per the runner's world article, it's a full length carbon fiber plate running down the middle of the midsole. Imagine a track spike plate with cushioning under it for the roads
