Early 2000s entry level road bike for cross training, nice weather commuting and the occasional triathlon (every 2-3 years)
Late 1990's fully rigid mountain bike that I bought in Craigslist for $80. This bike is used for winter commuting in the snow.
None never learned to ride bicycles but once owned a motorcycle.
One. In 1972 I bought a Schwinn Varsity 10 speed, and I still have it, and I still occasionally ride it. Though it weighs about twice as much as the newer bikes, at this point I see no reason to replace it, especially since it is in excellent working order.
Two; plus a frame which will become number three, as soon as I stop wasting time on letsrun and build a wheel for it.

All craiglist, all vintage - 6
1988 Vitus 979 - freaking awesome with full campy chorus components. Google it.
1976 Nishiki - mixte. Something about my wife's bike I just love.
1989 Nishiki - basic road bike, but I dig it!
1976 Huffy - complete dufus bike for my son at college
1989 BCAmerica- obscure but cool
1974 Schwin - mixte that is decent
Me
1. 1986 yellow and green Marin that i bought used for $100 in 1990. It's been my winter commute bike for 23 years. it's the heaviest piece of metal around and actually too big for me but it's solid and i can't seem to give it up for something better
2. a Felt TT bike. I like it for TTs and tris but i have never embraced this position and can't imagine doing a century on this thing.
3. Specialized Ruby that i bought last year to replace my 12 year old trek. It's the spring/summer commuter and my main training bike. love this bike
bike racer husband: 3 road, 1 TT, 1 mountain, 1 cross.
i'm good with our bike stash, but i would be happier if he would off some of the old frames and the wheels that seem to pile up.
Wal-Mart mountain bike. I may take it on a rail trail occasionally.
I quit riding on roads years ago when everybody started texting and talking on their phones and riders were getting killed at a horrifying pace.

None of those mentioned make bikes. They make frames, or at most frames and forks. None of them make seats. None of them do or can make spokes.
Anyway, I, fortunately have none. 0.
Nothing drags your life down like bicycles.
Not so fast.
My husband has 18 bikes and three vintage Pogliaghi and Gios frames (bikes are a combination of vintage cruisers, older and modern road bikes and two modern mountain bikes).
My boys and I each have a mountain bike, a road bike and a cruiser (that's nine more).
He's not in the cycling business but has been a cyclist since about 15 years old, worked in bike shops, etc.
I'm going to have to ask you to step off the podium.
Haha you think I have enough money to buy a bicycle.
