Do you really believe that the disregard for the Flotrack-endorsed beer mile championship is fueled by jealously of how fast some of the times are? Thx for the insightful analysis.

I really believe you've posted several replies to your own thread under different handles.
Yes. Unless someone can provide some reasoning other than saying it's dumb or stupid.
Let me see if I follow the line of thinking. I open a thread because I want to gauge how the general community here feels about it and state my opinion. I then reply several times to my own thread, under a different handle, for what purpose? I am really not trying to sway opinion, just seeing if most like it or not.

I did. A beer mile is something that is fun to do as a silly activity with some friends. It's not an event that transitions well to spectator entertainment. Like much of running, the fun is in the doing, not the watching.
OK, I agree that it is a silly event, but personally I love watching races, whether it's track races, road races or XC and the beer mile brings the same level of entertainment to me
i like the idea of a beer mile, it was always something fun to talk about in college and a fun things to mess around with competing with friends. its interesting to see how fast some of these guys can go now as I remember when sub five was the barrier.
however its hard to get behind flotracks world championship because i don't know how many other events are held in a parking lot. until they can hold it legitimately on a track it will be a novelty distraction that shouldn't be getting any attention compared to the legitimate running events in the world.

Seriously, Dutch boy?
You come up with this line all the time.
Just stop it, man.
Here is a sad reality you distance running losers, the 2016 4th of July Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest had more viewers than the 2016 Olympic mens 5000, 10000 and Marathon combined. You're complaining about the beer mile and how it hurts the sport?
I appreciate differing opinions. I don't particularly find the concept of eating contests to be all that appealing and the beer mile has an element of 'how fast can one ingest...", about it. That Flotrack can put on a big event like this and fall so short of reasonable coverage of the D1 XC championship adds to my dislike of the event.

That might be true if we had any idea who Bellemore was or what his time was. We're not interested enough to even find out.
All of these things like the Beer Mile and the absolutely ludicrous two-hour marathon projects just suggest that the sport is not interesting enough in and of itself to care about. I have never found that to be the case.
He runs for the University of Windsor in Canada.

You won't even deny that I was right
I like the Beer Marathon, a beer every mile, and the hotdog marathon, a hotdog every mile.
No puking allowed. For real men only.
The beer mile is great. The Flotrack Beer Mile (TM) sucks.
Isn't that what you'd expect (i.e. that I'd deny it)? I didn't figure you'd believe me. How's this? Do we have a moderator that can check IPs? Maybe if we got confirmation then you wouldn't assume this so readily, because I've only used one handle on this thread.
I think it is fine to do with friends. In regards to Flotrack's b0ner for it- stupidest thing of all time, and as someone said, lessens the sport of running.

Child's play.
100 miles and 100 beers in 100 hours.

Those Matt Stonie videos are pretty fun to watch.
Except for an few bright stars the U.S. is a second tier nation when it comes to world class distance running. I just don't know if we want to be the world leaders in the beer mile?
