I think Coach Johnson will be landing much farther west than Lexington!
Why would Coach Johnson every leave Oregon? Terry have every advantage any team could have other than weather. Home town advantage at every national championship. He's won how many national championships?
ever think that he wants to live some where he prefers more?
Can't imagine it's steve keith who is battling leukemia at the moment.
Why would Texas fire Mario and his staff for?? Didn't they just win Big 12?
They should win Big 12 every year men and women now that it is so depleted. Now the XC and distance program is not good despite some pretty solid recruiting. Add that to lots of internal issues. Seems like a mess to me.
I don't see SeattleU getting into the WCC anytime soon. Gonzaga IMHO will go out of its way to block them from getting into the conference.
Looks to me like their sports programs, except for men's soccer, are half-assed and a front for their basketball program. Their basketball team is crap, the students won't go to their games, and they're not going to the NCAA tournament anytime soon.
Bottom line--they need to either go back to D2, step up their funding, or if their administration won't do either, get rid of the coaching staff and find someone who can inspire and recruit some athletes.
Unfortunately, they'll go with option D--do nothing, and be happy with the status quo.

This is ridiculous. Bumbling? Moron? Loser?! Matt Kaczor is a stand up guy. He's always been a nice person who certainly doesn't deserve people smearing his name on these message boards. I've very few people who care as much and coach with as much passion as this guy. It does seem he gets screwed with a few APR issues here and there, but come on. Why rip the guy for doing his best?
Wow, while it's not great to say bad things about someone, they aren't wrong and how someone could think he is a coach who has passion is beyond me. I've been around that program a lot and both in relationships with athletes and recruits as well as coaching the current distance coach at CMU is not up for a D1 job. Athletes go there and get significantly worse. They barely scored any distance points and the program finished 6th in the 6 team MAC. I've had athletes recruited by him and some who should have been and he doesn't have a clue what he is doing. Super nice guy, but that shouldn't keep you a job if you aren't getting the job done.

What "internal issues"?
Since Mario took over the men have averaged finishing 11th at NCAA Champs and the women have averaged finishing 7th. The only top 3 trophies came from the women finishing 2nd both indoors and out in his first year - since then nothing.
With an athletic budget north of $200 million, these are not the type of results a highly successful program generates. If Texas makes a change, they have plenty of justification.

Matt Kaczor is not qualified to direct any program. Good guy. Not so good coach. Truth hurts. If he is hired, its because of buddy system not coaching ability.

Good God , people. It's CMU. Get a grip.
It does seem that Walt Drenth, a CMU alum, might have a MSU assistant or former assistant, that could revive the CMU distance program.
CMU has so many talented runners, most of which were redshirted this past year. I don't think they will be struggling at all this upcoming cross country season, regardless of who is coaching them. That being said, they've had plenty of talent over the last 6 years that have amounted to nothing, so maybe a change it for the best.

I heard this just minutes ago regarding Cook. I did not hear where, exactly, he is going to as far as a school or po a different profession but that it was possibly in North Carolina-not sure though. I don't know at this point whree there is an opening.
