A student publication at Amherst College published some sexually explicit, misogynistic emails that had been sent by members of the cross country team.

Following this report, the Amherst athletic director has suspended all team activities.

Sounds very similar to the Harvard soccer case, but now it's happened in our sport as well. Discus.

Already happened with the Harvard XC team.

Is there actual misogyny in there or is this a case of liberals not knowing what the definitions of words are yet again?

No one asked for your political opinion, bud. Why don't you just read the article and find out? -
A very good editorial from the campus newspaper too: https://theindicator.wordpress.amherst.edu/special-reports/editorial-after-mens-xc-email-examine-all-athlete-spaces

Anyone familiar with Amherst College and its male student body would not be in the least bit surprised by this revelation. That said, the new POTUS speaks and behaves very similarly so what's good for the goose is good for the gander, no?

The Indicator is actually the college's literary magazine, not its newspaper. This distinction may sound trivial, but the reality is that it's just another example of the modern decay of subjective sensationalism taking the place of objective journalism. -

How did the source of the news (newspaper vs magazine) pre-determine the quality of the reporting here? I thought they did quite a good job actually.
A bunch of racist, misogynistic kids got called out for having a horrible team culture. In what way was is that sensationalized? -
bunch of silver spooners that can't get laid complaining about women... hmmm where have i heard that before???

There's nothing more unbecoming than a bunch of privileged young men (using the term loosely) directing their unfounded anger at young women and other minorities. -
LOL. Who sends emails anymore?

Agreed. By contrast, less privileged people, women, and minorities would never do that towards privileged white males, publicly or privately. So for these guys to crack unseemly jokes in a private email chain is totally out of line. -

A private email chain distributed to all incoming freshman ? And these "jokes" are not just "unseemly", they're abusive and dehumanizing.
Oh, and two wrongs don't make a right. You should have learned that in preschool. -
Kids are idiots these day. Snitching on themselves. Went to Assumption College in the early 00's. We weren't that good, but we banged the girls team, had parties and didn't get in too much trouble because we didn't leave a paper trail of being idiots.

I am not sure that the behavior of 18-21 year old males in a college setting will ever change.
What I think is foolish is leaving an electronic trail, especially at a progressive effete place like Amherst. -

Yup, how can we punish others for saying and doing the same thing the President says and does? -
They deserve to be suspended for attending a preftigious college like Amherst while simultaneously being so dumb as to create an email chain like this.

Now there's thought police working! Based on the five or six quotes the article provided, I only thought one was blatantly inappropriate. They mentioned the quote, "she's a walking std." Really? That's mysoggynistic? Anyone who has a problem with this needs their head checked. If anything, they are saved from getting an std by someone saying this and avoiding the promiscuous individual. Every single men's sports team has said these things at one time or another. Guaranteed. The difference here is that it's written in an email, so there's "proof." Sure, we should not be racist or hateful towards a group. But there also a line between joking and hate. Also a double standard that no women's team would ever be punished for their crazy emails about guys.

It wasn't a political opinion. Because I don't want to risk wasting time on something that isn't actually misogyny. -
