the most important question: how many miles per week were you running in tent city?

What if he wants to turn his life around and be a contributing member of society? Maybe he doesn't want to resort to welfare or crime to make ends meet? Sounds like the opposite of entitled to me.
Think about it, this fetishizing of punishment we do in our country is the reason we are populating our streets with people coming out of jail WAY worse criminals than they were when they went in.
Yes, people need to realize the severity of their crimes. Yes, we should be tough with them. But there's a balance to be had. At the end of the day if it's not possible for former inmates to get an honest job, we're just asking for more crime on our streets. If you never give people the chance to improve themselves, they won't.

When you are a kid you are given a list of things you can't do. By the time you are an adult you should be able to grasp what those things are.
You can still easily get an honest job as an ex-con. It just won't be the cushy job of your dreams.
Start your own business if you can't handle that.
What marathon program are you following for your upcoming race?
And were you raped?

I have no sympathy for you losers. Get used to living at home with your parents and you are now a permanent resident. Don't have any babies because we don't need any more losers running around.
Your sympathy is irrelevant. The question is how should jails be run such that society overall works better.
Oh, but I do like your "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime." Cute. Stupid and trite, but cute.

They should be like all inclusive vacations with money poured into them and all the perks anyone could ask for.
Maybe like East Germany though where there is at least still a big fence around them.
good luck with the return to normalcy man

We should ship them to Australia which would make our society better.

Undoubtedly it was inadvertent on your part but the reference to Australia points to something interesting (at least for people whose first name is not 'Stupid'). Literally boatloads of criminals were shipped off to Australia and look at what happened? Not problem-free of course (nothing ever is), but they created a viable society which is now one of the best countries in the world to live in.
There is a lesson there.

My point exactly. It's a win win situation.
The US prison system is a debacle that is alternately treated with disdain or pity by civilized countries, much as the US healthcare system.
Stupid, fat, cowardly prudes... this is the stereotype the US citizens appear to routinely live up to. They waddle from their mansions to their gas guzzlers, clutching guns in their clumsy paws, terrified of boogeymen they imagine every time they see anyone of color or non-Christian religion.
We should line them up and gun them down one by one just like ISIS. We could sell tickets for viewing and sell popcorn too.

Where can I purchase tickets from? We can make a day of it a tail gate.

The criminals that founded Australia were a bit less criminal than your average US felon.
Just put a guillotine in the court room. If you are guilty then off with your head. If you know the consequences and get caught then Darwin's Law of narural selection applies.
Hot chicks will be spared though.
Hot chicks should be spanked.
Guillotine to the right, spanking station to the left.
I've never been to jail, but a very good friend was put in jail for getting behind on child support. He was tossed into the gen. pop with drug dealers, etc.. he's just a normal middle class guy and found himself in jail dealing with these scum for a week.
We were all worried he would get killed.
