I'm in the base phase for the next 8 weeks, what should I be doing to maintain or improve speed, how often per week and is this even desirable in the base period?
Would repeat 200's with like 6 minute rest in between at 800-1km pace be ok or is that too anaerobic?
Or should I just stick to strides twice a week and a weekly session of 60-80m hill sprints?
Other than this concern, my mileage is 80% easy with a weekly tempo and a "moderately" hard track workout.
Would greatly appreciate any answers, thank you :)
By the way, my focus is to run a good mile time, improvements in 5k or any other distance are a goal too but peripheral with respect to the mile.
Also, I'm aware if I sound completely ignorant about training, and am thankful for anyone who clears up any misconceptions I have about proper training.
