Hitting the nail on the head. But adding to it. A bat wielded by a 66 year old woman, hurts just as much when cracked over the head as a bat wielded by a 47 year old man. A bat is a bat.
On top of that the Police are there to POLICE. Some people decry facts that are known AFTER the incident that aren't apparent to the police.
Example (from another real life situation):
"I called 911 because my grown adult son who suffers from paranoia was trying to stab me with a knife, they came here, he turned the knife on them and the big bad police shot him. HE HAD A MENTAL DISABILITY!"
Well, that knife in the hands of that man is just as sharp regardless of his disability. The police aren't mind readers. AND if a family member familiar with the disability couldn't recognize and calm the situation how would a total stranger who happens to be in law enforcement be able to get through?
If more anti police letsrunners applied the sense they use towards law enforcement on running, their running plans would look like this.
"Ima train for da 5kmarathon everyday by running as hard as I can for der three miles every day and then Ill be fastest in a week."
Outsider: "No, thats not how it works, you need to vary your training, do longs runs, do intervals, do other work over many months and years."
"No, sh'up the answer is obvi, cause you just gotta run da fast as you can alwayz."
Do research, learn, recognize what seems "apparent" and face value isn't always correct.
