I agree. I have run in minimalist shoes (specifically zero drop shoes) for five years. I used to run in shoes with an 8-12 mm toe drop and was always injured by heel striking related injures (shin splints, ITB syndrome, back pain). Before anyone on here bashes minimalist shoes because of people getting injured running in them, it is because people don't transition into them. You can still have cushion on a show but the heel toe drop can be zero. It takes time (6-15 months) to fully adapt. But your improved form and efficiency will change your running. The whole idea of adding heel cushioning that is more than in the forefoot was that if you forefoot strike, there would be less ground contact time. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to have good running form unless you are sprinting with shoes that have above 8-10mm of heel toe drop.
