Good plan. It's not as exciting if there isn't a chance of getting mauled. I heard Disney has gators.
I always loathed pit bulls because of their reputation, usually well earned, until I spent time with my brother's pit bull. The absolutely sweetest dog I have ever been around. I have a sweet heart of a mutt that loves people and has never shown any aggression toward people in 13 years I've had her. But, she has and will kill rabbits, squirrels and anything small she can catch.
My brother's pit bull once came nose to nose with a wild skunk. They simply touched noses sniffing each other and both turned and walked away. My dog would have tried to kill that skunk no doubt. My brother also was keeping a bearded dragon for awhile and it would lay on top of the pit bull for naps and they would run around the yard together. He walks his pit in his neighborhood with no leash and it never gets more than 10 feet away from him, even when the small dogs are barking and being aggressive.
You just have to know how to raise a dog.
On your next run you can run by ten houses with loose pit bulls or ten houses will loose golden retrievers.
Yeah, it hurts. Sorry.
When dindu apes too?
All dogs are Wolves which guess what, are bred to kill. The miracle is that the instinct to behave like a wolf has been bred out of most breeds.
Pit Bulls are not one of those breeds.
At least no one has disputed the fact that we are smarter.

They were not bread to be attackers you moron. Do a little history lesson. They are extremely intelligent dogs that fell into the wrong hands in society. It is indeed a shame some idiots have these dogs because they are one of the best out there in terms of loyalty and intelligence. Are some bred now to be fighters? Absolutely, but it's not in their blood. I have owned many, and ones who have come from not so ideal situations. They are dogs who need exercise and socialization. If you do this, in my eye they are one of the best breeds to own. It's idiots like you spewing off at the mouth, the media, and the thugs that breed them that keep giving them a bad image.
according to wiki they were specifically created for fighting.

I've fostered more pittys then years you've been alive that have come from cruelty cases, dog fighting, neglect, etc. and never once have I felt threatened or attacked by one. PIttys also have one of the best temperaments out of any dog breed. Once again, people fall for the main stream medias opinion and can't think on their own. Did schools eliminate critical thinking? Have you ever noticed in articles about dog attacks they use key words when a pitbull attacks vs when any other dog attacks a person? Take notice you might actually learn something

There's a valid reason why this breed has a terrible reputation. The fact that you don't understand this is quite disturbing, considering the fact that these animals are in your care.

I have gators living not too far from my neighborhood, too! Come up on them from time to time while trail running. Never really thought how daring I am -- how close to the edge I've lived my life! Appreciate the affirmation.

There are no bad gators. Only bad gator owners.

Good for Montreal & Ontario.
Now let's ban all pit bulls and similar breeds in the states.

You obviously didn't work in any animal shelter and you have no idea about dogs.
Because I don't subscribe to the rhetoric of most other shelter workers? Well there are dissenters everywhere. I left after seeing someone get hurt very very badly.

There is no accounting for stupidity.

I also have exactly one friend whose dog attacked another dog. The dog doing the attacking was a pitbull. That pitbull was very loved and had no history of violence. Brought it into a vet and without provocation it latched onto another dog's neck. Thankfully they were already in a vet, otherwise the other dog probably would have died.
Very small sample size, of course. However, I do not know one single person who has a pitbull that doesn't think he/she is a total badass. They're buying an image with that dog. They want others to think they, personally, are a hardass. Without fail.
Excellent analysis! You've explained why nearly all people will select a pit bull over a less dangerous dog.

Why does one even need to point this out pit bull owners?? The are lots of other dogs out there that one could select.
Pit bulls are the weight lifters in the dog world. These dogs are OBVIOUSLY more formidable in a human/dog physical struggle.

It's a good idea, it's a problem all over the world. Politicians are weak.

Actually, no, they were bred first to control rodents, as most terriers.
