Back in the early-mid 1970s I played alot of competitive golf in high school and college. So got to play Pebble Beach about 7 times for free in high school matches and the California Amateur. Also Cypress Point 3 times in the California Amateur and Olympic Club about 5 times in Cal amateur and club matches . Often times i would bring my basketball shoes(I played a little college BB) and jog a couple holes to get the blood flowing before teeing off Those courses frowned upon that!. I remember being escorted back to the parking lot from middle of 2nd hole at Cypress Point by security.
Fortunately they didn't kick me out of the tourney. That was the first time I had ever played Cypress Point. Was 2 under going into #14 but made triple bogey. Somehow i paired in making a par 3 on the famous 16th hole by chipping miracurously out of the iceplant right of the green(Had to hit driver off the tee as it was 230 yds carry over the ocean) and sinking a 4 footer for par. paired in for 73. Only guy that beat me that day was future Masters champ Craig Stadler.
