Trust me on this. I'm in my mid-60s and have run my whole life. The decline in strength and endurance after age 60 is astounding. What they did 30 or 40 years ago is irrelevant.
Yes, it would be pathetic. I can't see either breaking 2 hours for 10k.
GW Bush and Obama will be in decent shape in their 60s bacause they maintained activity into middle age.
I don't doubt what you say about the decline post-60. But I just want to say that at 56 years, 9 months, I just won the masters division last Saturday at the Marquette, Michigan marathon, Boston certified, in 3:04:42. And I only run about 3 times a week, as I am a triathlete and do more biking.
So I'm braced for the decline, but hope it won't be too severe.
