Poor running economy, muscles are weak.
So that's why Daniels "easy pace" is not easy.

I agree generally with what you are saying. I also think muscle fibre type can have an effect on easy pace. I haven't seen your formula before, is there a source reference for this, or is it just common sense?

This formula is using Ski guys. They calculate how many beats per distance at current pace made during exercises in order to evaluate shape progress.
I have now around 600. In order, for example, to run marathon 02:20:00, I need 540-550. By this formula you can predict very easy your marathon, you just find at easy pace your number and then divide by heart rate at which you want run marathon, you will find marathon pace. Of course you should be prepared for such pace and able to hold it all marathon... Good luck!
