You've done a 4:46 1600 and you are fast. I'd think that you'd be able to run well under 2:09 based on your mile and that lick of speed.
Do you ever run fast 600s in practice? Try running 2 @ 600 in 1:30 with 5 minutes between and see how it feels. Proper warm up first of course.
It would be interesting for you to try a 600 where you go out in 55 - 56 and try to run about 1:26 too.
Keep it up, be patient. Certainly you should run under 2:00 by spring 2017.
When I was a kid, I ran 1:57 and could only do 53 for the 400, and it sounds like you have talent I could only dream of.
I've never given 600m workouts a try, but I'm absolutely down. Sounds like a super fun workout actually. Interestingly, a 1:26 600m doesn't sound hard to me on paper. I'd love to try it. Especially since this summer I've been running mostly just miles, some days faster some days slower. But I've started lifting a lot since last April and I feel and look a lot stronger physically despite staying roughly the same weight. I recently ran a 55 400m (timed myself) after a 6 mile run and it felt incredibly easy. I'm sure I could close another 200 in 30.
I'm actually about to start a late night lift right now but here's a quick and somewhat comical picture for you guys before I sign off:
So, I've mentioned I can split 49 in the 4x400. But what I didn't say is that im a 5'6 white guy around 130 lbs. I just want you to picture a short white dude holding his own against mostly all 6'1/Tall black dudes. It's hilarious to watch from what I've been told.
Cheers all!
