Mike Smith is from Central Mass, but he did spend a few years in Arizona before going to Georgetown.

Ryan Gil the G-town Steepler did the same thing last year. Graduating and then going to Oregon to do graduate study and run.

He started up (I think) and coached a running group in flagstaff for a few years with Jack Daniels.

That's right about coaching with Jack Daniels. His heart was always in Flagstaff after that. I believe he is originally from Virginia and, I believe transferring to Georgetown from one of the Virginia colleges as an undergrad.

Nope. He's from Central Mass. He used to camp out on the slopes of Mt. Wachusett during the summers in high school and log massive mileage weeks. Or so legend has it...

To clear up: Mike is from Massachusetts (Princeton), went to school at JMU in Virginia. Transferred to Georgetown after his sophomore year. Later found his way to Flagstaff and worked Jack Daniels. Finally returned to Georgetown 3 or 4 years ago to coach the women's team.
Lol so as you were saying?

Some transfers just don't make sense in any way, I'm guessing she at least got a Georgetown degree before going to Oregon. But why move across the country, leave the girls you've know and raced with for years, to join a group of girls you don't know who are even that good? Should have probably just stayed loyal to her school and teammates. Even if that Micheal Smith guy is a complete moron, she's been all American the past couple years. I doubt Oregon coaching is going to get her to some new level.
And now she's a National Champ and happy as all get out!

Lmao. Also, that "moron" Mike Smith is now a National Champion too
She also went to hang with her best friend from elementary school, ex teammate, and US Olympic Trials qualifier, Brianna Nerud.
Think it's safe to say this was a good decision. Nadel was crucial in this championship race and without her transfer, Oregon wouldn't be holding up the trophy right now. UO have got to be thankful they had Brianna not only as an amazing athlete in her own right, but to convince her friend to take her talents to Eugene from an equally great school like Gtown.
I love revisiting this

She Won a National Championship last year in Cross,Indoor and outdoor track and field. I think the Oregon Women will win the Triple crown again this year. :) GO DUCKS
