He's good at the 5k, but 3k I think we've all noted seems to be his sweet spot. Hard to tell how he'd be over barriers, and it might dampen his kick but maybe he could be a Kemboi type?

Is his 3k really better than his 5k? Also, there is no such thing as a set sweet spot. Your sweet spot will be whatever you train for.
There obviously is such a thing as a sweet spot. ElGs was the mile/1500. Bekeles was the 10k. Rudisha's is the 800. Ryan Hill's is the 3k. I'd say he would make a great steepler. Jager style.
Yes, his 3k is better than his 5k. And with respect, you know that's not true. Rudisha will never be a truly elite marathoner. Kipchoge never would be more than a passable sprinter. Kovacs isn't going to run any fast 5ks any time soon.
I bet Hill has tested his hurdle ability. I don't think he needs to switch disciplines. Other than a near miss this spring, he's been consistently one of the very best US runners--many people he's beaten consistently just got Olympic medals. He was the US champ last year and world indoor silver medalist! For those who think that last race doesn't count because no competition, how'd Chelimo do in that race?

Yea, what are you talking about? Of course people have sweet spots. Otherwise Bolt would dominate all distances as would Kipchoge.
