You're leaving out the political angle. The testing works but certain people and countries are being allowed to dope. This can't even be argued anymore.

My thought also. In fact my view is it's more likely Radcliffe was a doper than that Rupp is. Though the principal is correct. I would not bet my life on either being true, and we are unlikely to ever know for sure.

So you're saying Paula was a doper?

Let's not make this about Galen but any athlete.
1) If you follow the sport, the only person you should say "there is no way X dopes" is yourself. Paula Radcliffe told me that a long time ago and it is great advice. You can really think someone doesn't dope, but to say "there's no way X dopes" is crazy.

Having said that I think Paula was clean.
I suspect you think Paula was clean because you connected with her. That she is either convincing and genuine, or a convincing liar. Maybe Galen does not have good chemistry with you. But to say this, not yourself being Paula, means you missed her (potentially devious but actually telling) point. Only she knows, and we are unlikely to have the ability to scientifically retest her in hindsight as we have been for past performances by other athletes. Me, I have no idea, but am more suspect of Paula than Galen, and having said that I don't think Paula or Galen are clean. Or dopers. I just don't think we can know from the perch we have.
For the record......I was framed.

Interesting. The USADA says he was tested 21 times last year. The same in 2014. 28 in 2013.
http://www.usada.org/testing/results/athlete-test-history/I guess he knows way more than the rest of us!
That is just USADA tests, dummy.

You are a little late to the party -- this has been discussed at length above.
Two questions:
1) Do you have any evidence Rupp was tested 29 times outside the US? That is half again as many times as he was tested in the US.
2) How many of the non-USADA tests were out-of-competition? After all, those are the tests that matter.
Wang Junxia is the most Obvious doper, not Paula Radcliffe
First, I thought this was a very good interview. Wide ranging and the ideas on making T&F more fan friendly were good. For instance, having smaller more intimate settings for the field events (okay, javelin and hammer need a decent sized venue). Field events are so much better when you are close to the action--indoors is great for that.
I will say that his defense of Rupp based on testing and even the biological passport was pretty over the top.
I do think that the testing has gotten better (where it is done properly which is apparently just a few places) it has made a difference in that the athletes cannot dope to the gills so the dosing has probably gotten lower.
It was great to get someone from outside the track world with a pretty big audience (Simmons) talking track.
I also recommend House of Run which also had Gladwell on right after the marathon.
