A while back the product was advertised on this site as being used by a top marathon runner. It had something to do with bee's. Did anyone buy any, have any results??

I drank it during Berlin (2;18) and it worked well for me and I ran negative splits.
I drink it all the time in Japan.
Great stuff!!!

Shut up JTY. No hornet arse juice will enable you to compete with real distance running powerhouses like myself. So my advice to you is to quit running and just hang out at the Shelby Twp. Ben and Jerry's.
I bought a 10 pack as an experiment. Totally dig it, and have sold/given packs to 4 other runners to try.
The website is
In a nuthsell:
It's a sports drink that comes in powder forms, 10.5gram packets... grapefruit flavored (you learn to love it)
-VAAM = Vespa Amino Acid Mixture. The product is a mixture of several amino acids, based on the saliva of killer hornet larvae (I couldn't make that up). When the killer hornets feed the larvae, the larvae produces this amino acid mixture. Apparently these bees can fly 100km a day when hunting for food. The powder does not contain actual hornet saliva.
-Takes about 3-4 uses before the you feel a difference
-You drink it about 0-30 minutes before a workout on an empty stomach. I usually wash it down with some fresh water after I drink it.
-When it does start to work for you, the buzz will kick in about 15 minutes into your run
-You know when it kicks in because you will drop several seconds off your normal mile splits with no extra effort, it's like taking a gel during a run except this doesn't fade
-Since it is kind of pricey (roughly $3/pack), I'll skip using it a few times a week. It doesn't hurt my workout, I just don't have the same level of energy. Used it today for a 7 mile lunch run, it was pretty sweet.
I've used it in a 10K race. I was (and still am) out of shape, but I still managed to run negative splits with my fastest mile being mile 6.
10 packs will cost you $33. It's worth the investment to see if it works for you. I know it's hard to take my word for it since I babble on about this stuff like it was Amway, but I strongly urge you to try it. Seriously.
I tried it during long runs training for my marathon and I am not so sure about drastic claims made for it, but I found it made me feel less hungry during long runs and seemed to even out the blood sugar rush from drinking carb drinks. I generally felt better after my long runs and better the next day after drinking VAAM, but I am not so sure there was any performance effect. But I completely forgot it when I left for my marathon and didn't get to use it for the race.
VAAM absolutely rocks!!! This is my secret weapon (although not so secret anymore!). What price do you put on winning races or running PBs? It is like nothing I have ever tried. If you check out vaam-power.com you will see genuine reviews from real people who think the same. If you race and train at a high intensity then this stuff is the best. You get out of this product what you put into it. In my experience those who say ?didn?t notice much difference? just aren?t doing the business hard enough. When they do they are hooked.
Did any of you guys who used VAAM notice any behavioral side effects? The reason I ask is because I saw a documentary on those bees and as they consumed more of the juice produced by the larvae they seemed a little crazed by it, almost as though it were a drug as well as nourishment.
I watched it too. I think those hornets are crazed by nature.
I did not notice any behavioral side effects. Remember, VAAM is not the actual larvae saliva. I'm sure there is junk in the saliva other than 17 amino acids in a grapefruit flavored liquid :-D
I achieved a marathon PB of 2:38 using Vaam. Nearly 10mins faster than my previous PB. Had a few training sessions on it beforehand. Definitely noticed an improvement, but actual race day was a step up again. I?m now using it on most training runs. I also think it helps big time with the recovery too.
Quick help! I'd love to give VAAM a try at Motorola in mid-Feb, but the online ordering service takes too long for delivery. Does anyone out there in cyberspace know where I can phone order the product, or know of any running shop that I could contact to buy VAAM.
Can you explain how and when to take the powder(?): before race, during race, what stages, in addition to GU and carb fluids? I'll probably have my own fluids on the tables at Moto, so should I mix VAAM in with the placed bottles?
Thanks for any info,
Van
VAAM is a bit more pricey than the usual drinks... but hell, this hornet?s piss is way better than anything I?ve ever tried before... worth every penny.... only place I?ve seen that you can get it is on the net at
I rate it 5 stars.
Saw it first on a Nat Geo program about the hornets, then checked the net and found
I tried it out and I must say that I?m really impressed. As a competitive middle distance runner I use it for all my races and hard training sessions. I can definitely recommend it to any runner who wants to improve their performance.
PS: there are no side effects other than recovery time is improved
Yeh, I?ve tried VAAM, a friend put me onto it, visited www.vaam-power.com and had a good read about it, some pretty credible testimonials there, Sydney 2000 Olympics Gold medal womens? marathon winner takes it, was still a little skeptical but after having tried it I am a convert and will not race or have a hard training session without the stuff. I noticed the benefits the first time I used it, didn?t puke either. Even in the short distance races I still take VAAM. I?m into middle distance running, cycling and triathlons and this stuff is unbelievable!!! Try it you will not be disappointed!!!
There is an independent review from triathlete.com of VAAM
http://www.triathlete.com/reviews.asp?man=28&model=38
. Reviewer's conculsion:
"I would suggest this product to anyone that has the financial ability to sustain it's use. This is by far the most amazing product i've reviewed in terms of fuel. I believe i will buy some for races only, since the impact is immediate, this would be a good option. I originally was going to give it a 10, but i give it 9 based on price alone."
I drak it and I dont know if it helped my times, they always got faster, but that is how things should go if you train right. Anyway, I felt great everytime I took it. Every once in a while on a training run you feel so good and are just pissed you are not racing that day, VAAM will make you feel that smooth every time you drink it. Also, as another poster said, it seems to keep the barf down.
VAAM JUST PLAIN RULES!!!!!
When I was in Boulder in October, Naoko Takahashi, The VAAM Queen herself, gave me about 20 bottles of the stuff that she had shipped over from Japan, also a VAAM towel that has become my lucky charm.
GAMBATTE Q-CHAN!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

A kind Letsrunner, John , sent me his last four packets. Tried one before my last depletion run (11m) with some 30 sec surges. Liked it, but will save last three packs for Motorola.
Jason,
Tell us how you used it at Berlin. You should set up a lucrative operation where you ship the "banned in USA" cans over to us !
The web site explains how the tryptophan is illegal on US market because of some rival factory-tainted batches a long while ago.
John,
Damn, after your pump-up note, I'll be thinking of your mantra when the race starts at 20 miles !
Dang dude, that got there fast! Guess the snow storm didn't slow the mail any. You didn't take my last packs, I saved a couple for my weekend runs... it was about time I ordered some more anyways.
Good luck, bro. Let me know what you did as far as intake, and how it worked.
If you?re serious about your running and you do not use VAAM then you are missing out big time!!! The only place I?ve seen it is on www.vaam-power.com. Good service with efficient delivery so I highly recommend it.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
