Well I picked up a few tips:
Some things to try when you are running.
"-Never make a fist!! Hold your hands like you have a potato chip between your thumb and pointer finger that you don't want to break. The rest of your hand should be loosey goosey... just flopping around.
-Keep your arms bent at an obtuse angle. Lower down by your hips. Don't swing your arms across your chest/body either. Keep them moving straight forwards or backwards.
-Exhale when your left foot hits the ground to prevent cramps. Im not sure about this one honestly. It always seemed to be a jedi mind trick, but it works REALLY well for me.
-Your stride should be comfortable and focus on keeping it the same throughout the run/race.
-Dont look at the ground. Look straight ahead and keep a level head.
When I ran cross country I would catch myself looking down, or my arms would come up close to my chest, or I felt like I was kind just flopping around and I would reset my entire posture to where it needed to be. So I guess just constantly be checking yourself... Kind of helps keep your mind off the pain."
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
