And why is she expected to pr in a championship race? Why is that expected of her when it's not even considered possible for professionals?
she isnt expected to, but as stated she didnt need to run really close to her PR to win. Im sure she will be disappointed in this. It is worth pointing out that her PR was 2 seconds better than the rest of the field (both 1st and 2nd are 405 girls), and the 3rd/4th place finishers did in fact PR in the final. It was a bad day, and unfortunately for her it came at the worst time.

Ummmm..... what is it about:
"I am rooting for her to perk-up because she seems like a great person".
...that you did not understand? Pointing out disappointing races only translates to 'Hate' amonst haters on LR.

I love that Aragon came through with a great race, she is a real talent. Hopefully the Stanford coaches will do a good job with her.

Kindly explain why, in perfect conditions and well placed tactically, having run 2:00.99 just a few weeks earlier, and 4:03 a year earlier, Alexa would think it 'great' that she ran 4:06+ in what was (or should have been) her most important race of the year?

Wow, you caught me! How embarrasing for me that I got distracted in the middle of my sentence and didn't bother to spell check. It's so unfortunate that the meaning I intended to convey was lost due to this egregious error. From now on I guess I'll have to follow in your steps and refrain from contributing anything to the ongoing discussion. Instead I will point out minor shortcomings of people I've never met.Guess I'm off to a good start!

I reckon the Ethiopian who won is about 25 years old.
She also cut two people off, maybe not quite badly enough to be DQ'ed.

When the menopausal granny from Ethio passed Alexa, she lost heart, due to the Old Lady Smell wafting from the aforementioned senior citizen. Fortunately, Christina grabbed the flag and held off the XY from Kenya for some hardware. As long as Ethiopia keeps those wizened pensioners in their own land, away from the NCAA, Christina should clean up in the collegiate ranks, at least until Kate Murphy shows up.
I hope Stanford does do well, but over at least the last ten years injuries and defections have been plentiful on the women's side.
