Solidly beats Efraimson. Who knows what the backround of the EAs is.
What a season for her. Her progression over the last year has been perhaps the most solid of any of the prep phenoms.

Damn Efraimson really choked! Same thing happened to her 2 years ago
No she didn't choke you alarmist dipsh*t, she didn't have the exact same 400 kick the top runners had. Oh my word, she was TWO WHOLE SECONDS behind them over 400 Meters ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY. Choking involves failure, I think 2 seconds off the win is at least relatively okay. Jesus Christ
She is Chuck Aragon's daughter. Chuck was in the epic finish of the 1500m US Olympic trials final in 1984.
Interesting race from a standpoint of succession: in addition to Aragon, Tim Hacker's son Olin is on the U20 team (5000) and Mark Fricker has a daughter, Mckayla, who runs 2:00 for 800.

Um, Efraimson has ran 4:03 last year and has had some great performances this year. This was a poor performance from her. It's okay; it happens.
And why is she expected to pr in a championship race? Why is that expected of her when it's not even considered possible for professionals?

Alexa was talking a big game about being so ready to medal and contend for the win. She came in after running a 4:07 in the trials and make a comment that hopefully Aragon could medal too (arrogantly assuming she would win or be far ahead) ha ha ha those tables got turned. Go Christina!!!

She didn't even need to pr to win.
I have followed Alexa's running since she was a state-level performer, and one thing I've noticed is a certain lack of tactical capability, whether it is from inability to rapidly change gears or a lack of "killer instinct" at the finish, or both. She does very well in fast races where she can tuck in and ride the rhythm for a fast time bit no win. Her best race in terms of a kick waas NXN against Cranny and Baxter, neither of whom are exceptional kickers. Molly Ludlow seems similar: great physical resources, but a lack of "closing" ability.
Aragon and Kate Murphy are more geared for Big Wins in their future. They have "It".

Because it's a championship race.

Dumbest POD. She did choke...badly, and also disappointed at the trials. 4:03 last year and sub 2:01 earlier this year -everyone was looking for something special. Yet another Go Pro Go Downhill? We shall see. Perhaps there's some excuse for lacklustre running from Alexa since May, but not evident . I am rooting for her to perk-up because she seems like a great person.
You are an idiot! Her high school career was filled with brilliant finishes. She ran great at US Nationals, was probably a tough month. She looked flat, but common.
Nike does not give out contracts, if you can't finish. Keep trollin.
That is a bu11$71# post, nice try college boy.
She ran great at the Olympic Trials, where was this post when she was 1.18 seconds from making the Olumpic Team. Check your facts S Stud.
I love that Aragon came through with a great race, she is a real talent. Hopefully the Stanford coaches will do a good job with her.
We should all be praising Christina, rather than tearing down Alexa (Who looked tired compared to the Trials). Christina deserves the praise. Great finish.
You obviously missed the most important race of her HS career, the WJr 1500 in Eugene. Tremendous athlete, AJR-holder and all, just doesn't get it done in the finals. Mary Cain wasn't as fast over 1500, but won several USATF senior titles while in HS.

Kindly explain why, in perfect conditions and well placed tactically, having run 2:00.99 just a few weeks earlier, and 4:03 a year earlier, Alexa would think it 'great' that she ran 4:06+ in what was (or should have been) her most important race of the year?

Because she is still a kid.
