So im looking for a good croos training activity and found an MMA gym 1.2 kilometers from where I live. So I could go basically easy jogging and back 2.4 k's extra.
Is MMA a good cross training activity? They specialize in Brazilian Ju Jit su and Kick Boxing. Its just 1:30 hrs 3 times a week...(why so little?) Why would this be a good or bad idea? Thank you!
This is a troll post, but for those wondering, MMA and BJJ are among the worst sports you can participate in for overall physical and mental health. I'm a former MMA guy who grew up boxing, and after years of being around fighters every day, I can count on one hand the number of guys who have walked away without some sort of brain damage or permanent physical injury.
MMA is obviously a bad idea (4 oz gloves = concussions and sub-concussions repeatedly), but BJJ is marketed more cleverly as a "safe" alternative. The truth is that you can very easily get concussed in BJJ (if you hit the ground hard after being taken down, what do you think is happening inside of your skull?). BJJ is also TERRIBLE for your joints. So many guys who compete in BJJ competitions are on the gas just so they can keep rolling every day and chase meaningless belt colors.
Running is a far better way to improve mental toughness, character, and fitness than martial arts.
