Ummmm....she runs for NOP. They only take le creme de le creme.
Hasay has the heart of a (SoCAl mountain) lion, but Allie O has the heart of an Alaskan Grizzly Bear!
Fantastic news about Allie and terribly sad about Jordan.
Lets not forget Jordan was the darling of the Olympic Trials a few years ago and look where she is now. She's done.
4 months off with a stress fracture sounds about right. Sad news is that to be successful in middle and long distance a girl has to put in huge mileage and that will always lead to a stress fracture.
Allie is extremely tiny which leads me to believe she probably suffers from Female Athlete Triad syndrome. She's going to need to severely reduce her training or suffer the long term consequences.
Looking at Jordan I suspect she has the same issues.
Speaking from experience her before you slam me. My daughter had it as a teen and she was ordered to stop running and increase her caloric intake.

Finals are on Sunday the 10th @4:28pm PST
Jordan also qualified for the finals so it will be interesting seeing a bit of a rematch between the two. I'm still rooting for Allie though. If she can sneak in and get third that would be phenomenal.

Hasay made the final dude.
Hasay still made the finals, brah. But she really has no chance.

Sunday. I'm worried this won't be good for Allie (or her tibia) because it'll be two races too close together right after injury
But I guess she was never seriously hoping to qualify
I assume you mean well, but it is not wise for you to make medical judgements based on what you observe on television.
Why would Hasay go with Huddle? This ain't high school anymore. No more pretending you there. Know your limits.
Sorry to hear about your daughter - but do not try to reflect her situation onto Allie. Allie did not run year-round in AK (played basketball), and so stress fracture was probably an unfortunate result of moving to a full-year training regimen for the first time in her life. Also - Allie has always been tiny her entire life, even before she started running.
Allie is a huge talent, and hope she navigates her NCAA years with no further injury setbacks. In the long run (pun intended), I look for her to be a threat in the 10K and marathon. Sort of reminds me of another "tiny" runner named Joanie.

Agree. All the women had pretty similar builds just slight differences in height/hips. It's a distance running build
If you want to be top you have to keep a slim build
If you already have a slim build you will benefit
This speculation is stupid - it's a fine line between staying optimally fit and being sick. Even for non-athletic women bone density is tricky

Thank you for posting this. EDs and the Triad need to be discussed more openly and often. It is a shame so many coaches, parents and fans are in denial about their prevalence. The conspiracy of silence destroys lives. In some cases, literally.
I am always amazed at how open LRC posters are to discussions about who is and is not using PEDs, and how resistant they are to observations about EDs. I always wince when I read comments such as "But she's always been thin." I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a client who was also an elite female runner. During one of our sessions, she mentioned EDs. I asked if they were really all that common. She stared at me and asked, "Are you blind?" I felt stupid.

Unfounded speculation by strangers is not the open discussion that needs to happen on this issue
and how resistant they are to observations about EDs.
You weren't here during cross country season? There was a ton of discussion about one of the runners. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, brojos emailed the coach with the concerns. This runner never ran again and hasn't since.
I don't think anyone should be making PED or ED claims about individuals. This post started about a young lady's Olympic Trials and it goes to this. Really pretty shameful.
