Hello, I am in high school have been running in different pairs of Aisics GT 2000's for a little over the past year. I never had any injuries until last fall when I started high school and started 30+ mpw and I got shin splints. They weren't too bad and I ran through them. Then in the winter I got an IT band problem that went away after going to physical therapy and doing strengthening exercises. Then a few weeks ago I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I took 4 days off and iced, rolled and stretched. I then started running again (while continuing all of the previously mentioneed), and while there is pain it's not too bad and it seems to be getting better.
I have also been back to physical therapy since I got my plantar fasciitis and I asked about shoes, sort of expecting them to tell me to go the more minimalist route, but to my surprise they recommended shoes with a lot of arch support and cushioning. My current pair of shoes have a little under 350 miles in them so I don't need to replace them right away, but I was wondering what letsrun thought about the heavily supported vs. minimalist shoe debate.
