I concur with those calculations. I have no knowledge of what form these athletes are in for the 1500M except for the PBs. On the face of it Taiwo has a vastly superior PB with a difference well over 14 seconds. On the other hand conditions are not good which I think favors Scantling. And Scantling will inherently have a measure of control over the race running behind Taiwo and getting the measure of the distance between them. It could be very close.

Scantlings got a 90 point lead, but Taiwo has a much better 1500m.
Taiwo may be tired from all those jumps in the pole vault, we'll see if he can execute.
He has an 87 point lead, which is 14 seconds in the 1500.
Scantling's best is 4:44 (his best this year is 5:07, which he achieved last year). Taiwo's best is 4:16, but that's a while ago. He is usually good for sub 4:20 however. His best this year is quite a bit slower than that (4:31).
Unless Scantling can pull a rabbit out of his hat, he will be watching the games on TV.
I guess that if you are Scantling, you shoot for 4:40 and hope for the best.
