I was going into college. Running in the heat. The fittest I had been up to the point in my life. And I was smoking a lot of weed dropping acid quite a bit. It was a pretty surreal summer
Playing basketball in a couple leagues and going to a day camp
Watching the Atlanta Olympics and the gold shoes
Was simply enjoying the summer between school and university. Didn't know how easy I had it!
I was in the shape of my life even though I had a one year old and a three year old at home to keep up with. I won a couple of pretty big races in Spokane and ran my PRs at 5K-marathon that year.
Summer before my Jr year of HS. Transitioned between my first and second girlfriend at that time. Thought I was the man when I started dating the second girl right after breaking up with the first one! Ran about 45-55 miles a week I would guess and that led to my first All-State season. I can remember being into Presidents of the USA, Bush, Dr Dre, Easy E and probably about 20 other bands I can't think of right now. Had my own car and mowed lawns in my the neighborhood for money. Definitely a good summer for me.
Had just graduated college, and was prepping to start grad school. If you had told me then that I'd be into long distance running some day, I'd have called you crazy.

Not all of us dwell in Mom's basement.
By 1996 I had been out of the Army for 28 years.
I spent the summer in Jordan on an archeology dig. Hard work but great fun. Very rewarding summer.

Pretty cool ! What did you unearth?
Oh, crap! You're right! Holy cow, time flies... 1996 I was entering college, super excited, pulled over going 102mph on the highway in my girlfriend's Tercel on the Turnpike, yanked out of the car by Highway Patrol, started yelling at me, "are you military!!!!!!? (had a fresh flatop)" "No." "I didn't think so!!!"My gf was balling, I told him we just got out of orientation and we were just excited to be going to college. Let me go.Unreal. Summer series XC races, running like always, but our coach (I was a DI full-ride athlete) gave us a schedule starting at 30 mpw and was pumped as I'd never run more than 20 miles in a week.

Nope. That was 1992.
Working in Fayetteville, AR and running at night with a slew of AR legends. Also had the chance to run with several Olympians waiting to head over to Atlanta for the games.
