I thought Renato Canova said after not getting selected for the marathon team he would focus solely on a fall marathon and won't go back to the track
I honestly think Bekele has a better shot at the 10k than the marathon to get a medal
With Bekele being very prone to injury these past couple years I feel marathon training might make him more susceptible to being injured again
He's already playing catch up from being out pretty much all of last year, he could get in 10k shape a lot quicker than marathon shape, and the 10k training would be a lot easier on him (more miles vs fewer miles, more track/grass work vs road work, less stress on joints)
I think him focusing on making the 10k team is a right move if that's his motive, but even if he doesn't, it's okay, just prep for a fall marathon
