You could always take the Dean Karnazes approach and earn money from fame instead of pure running performance.
For example, maybe you start a blog where you document your experiences going to Color Runs in different cities and winning them. You could then write a book and go out on a book tour and get sponsored by Tide detergent for removing the colorful dust from your running clothes after the race.
Or, instead, maybe you start a Youtube channel where you start a new phenomenon called "Running on the Freeway." When there is standstill traffic, you can strap on a GoPro and run down the shoulder of the freeway, mocking the drivers whom you are passing.
Or, expanding on the Beer Mile phenomenon, you can start a race series where competitors run while drunk. In order to gain entrance to an event, you must achieve a BAC of at least .18 no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of the race. Local bars and liquor stores can sponsor the events or individual runners, and bonuses can be given for achieving "drunk" world records.
