Sorry- 10.5, 47.6- my point still stands though. You can't use these world records or very close to justify that 2:00 is very weak, as that is they are the world records. Sure, 14 yr 2:00 boys are a dime a dozen, but so are 49/50/51 14 yr boys, which is where the women's 400 is at as well.
By the way, using IAAF tables, 2:00= 1:45.68, not 1:47 and washed out.
Ok if I go on the UK rankings for under 15 boys last year there are 8 boys that ran sub 2:01. 3 ran 1:57 or faster and 1 ran quicker than the female world lead last year.
On the 1500m list the quickest boy ran 4:08. On the 3k list the quickest boy ran 9:05.
Under 15 boys are too young to run the 400m but they do the 300m and the fastest ran 35.7 which is worth about 50 flat for the 400m. Allyson Felix could likely run 48 mid last year given her 47.7 relay leg.
Women's 800m at the moment is weak there is no denying it. Sub 2 used to be the minimum standard to show an athlete was on her way to making it as a pro. Now it is some kind of elite standard.
Ignore that IAAF conversion. Sub 2 is not that great and Caster Semenya is showing the world how weak the field is. Kelly Holmes would have ripped this current generation apart.
A better way of showing how weak the 800m is right now is by comparing world leads or comparing the men's 400m against the men's 800m and then doing the same with the women's events. I was just making the point that undeveloped young boys can run 2 minutes and it is not that special.
