Chris O'donnell
Both of them were super friendly too!
Arlo Guthrie, Billy Mills, Jenny Simpson

Dave Johnson (decarhlete. He can't be too famous if I have to explain what he was)
Matt Tegenkamp
The president of a third world country when he and I were college classmates
John Sculley and various other CEOs but Sculley was highest profile
Various pro golfers. Tom Watson was the most accomplished
In my years of air travel I've bumped into George Foreman, Dustin Hoffman, Jesse Jackson, John Cusack, the founder of Hustler magazine (I forget his name).
Sorry, no, my mistake. It was Al Goldstein who founded Screw magazine, not Hustler. My GF and I were waiting to get into a Broadway play back in 1990, and he was in line in front of us.
Larry Bird and Dave Johnson were making a celebrity appearances at a conference I attended in Orlando. Dave was nice, he let me hold his oly medal. Bird seemed bored
Teg I met outside the Hilton the night before he ran Chicago marathon. I exclaimed "you're Teg!" He smiled and we both wished each other luck
I was taking a pee in the men's room in a NY hotel when Sculley came over and used the urinal next to mine. No, I did not shake his hand
Watson I played with in a pro-am. He was really nice. Also played with Chip Beck and Dottie Pepper. Both really nice people. One other Ryder Cupper I played with who shall go unnamed was a bit of a d*ck. Oh, and Chuck Coody too
Foreman was traveling with a large entourage (took up all of first class) on a red eye from Houton to NY. The referendum Jesse was flying with a lady friend to Chicago from LGA on the last flight of the day. As was Cusack (seemed like most celebrities like to teacher commercial at night maybe to avoid fan stargazing). I saw Cusack a week after that apocalyptic 2012 movie came out. I was tempted to ask him if he was on his way to China, but I left him alone
Forgot to include on my list John Wooden. He was at a corporate gathering where people were asking about the univ of Houston game that UCLA lost. He was pleased when I reminded people that Alcindor had been hurt that game
Rick Fox I sat next to on a plane from Chicago to NY
The other guy with Neil Armstrong who went to the moon visited your class in grade school
Never realized how few famous people I've met... but lots of people have met me!
The few I've shook hands with and talked to:
Willie Gault (WR for the Bears Super Bowl team)
Boston Billy
Steve Scott
Ryan Hall
Bryan Clay
John Ashcroft (former Attorney General)
Amy Grant (pop singer)
Except for the runners, I guess if I have to describe who they are, they're probably not that famous.

No I noticed she was older than I thought but still smoking hot. She was polite friendly and down to earth. Her husband came in later to sit with her, some kind if disability or something I can't remember. Very classy lady.
Longtime bandmate, boyfriend, devoted friend but not husband Chris Stein has the autoimmune disease called Pemphigus.
I met Bruce Willis at the Improv in LA in early 1986. It was the first season of "Moonlighting" so he wasn't BRUCE WILLIS yet. Very nice, down-to-earth guy. We had a couple beers together in the bar.
I sent Mike Mills a beer when I saw him in the hotel bar in Albany after an R.E.M. show in 1995. He came over to thank me and we talked for about five minutes. Very cool guy.
I knew Hank Azaria pretty well in college, but if Bruce Willis wasn't yet BRUCE WILLIS, Hank Azaria wasn't even "Hank Azaria" yet. He was just this kinda cool, very funny guy that I spent some time hanging out with.

Sorry about your luck.
Haha. Thanks.
I think I have named the only actual famous people on this entire thread. I have also met Ryan Hall, and Meb.
But here's a hint, guys: no distance runner is famous. Not a single one.
I'm notorious for not recognizing famous faces, even when I meet them. Since there are different kinds of meeting someone, I'll throw out a half dozen:
Sat next to in an airplane:
1) Muhammad Ali -- even in the mid-90s it was difficult to converse with him so I was very brief about being a fan, etc. We boarded first and I sat there in amazement as every single person that got onto the plane stopped to acknowledge him one way or another
2) Franco Harris -- same year, living in Pittsburgh and again flying in first on upgrades. I had always been a Raiders fan, but I had huge respect for him. Very personable.
Random meetings with brief conversation:
3) Mick Jagger -- not much of a meeting per se, but I am still amazed that at one point in the mid-80s in NYC I stood behind Mick waiting to get cash out of an ATM. it was a surreal moment and I thought a head nod plus a small smile was as much of an intrusion as was appropriate, so I left it at that and got one back, which I interpreted as "thanks for respecting my privacy"
4) John Elway -- a very bright guy who was displays a good deal of perspective and humility
Longer meetings, interesting conversationalists:
5) Tim Robbins -- the actor clearly has a wide range of interests
6) Tom Snyder -- ex talk show host and a memorable story teller
I met Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck with my Mommy and Daddy

Lol. Yeah, that Neil Armstrong guy in that very first post is a true nobody. Had to google him.

That's a big coincidence. Did you guys meet each other as well?
Emil Zatopek
Lasse Viren
Robert F Kennedy
Kip Keino
Several great runners, mainly at the 1996 BAA Marathon Footrace and the 1992 Olympic Trials.
Otherwise, a gigantic mid-level wrestler who went by The Colossus. He was married to one of my colleagues.
Mike Boit's nephew was in the AP English class I teach. (A bit of a stretch?)
I sat by Mark Witherspoon in a class at ACU.I drunkenly spilled a beer on Billy Olsen in the Upstairs Club in Abilene.
I was with Eddie Van Halen in a store in the Galleria in Dallas, but didn't talk to him.
I worked with Freddie Williams for a while.
BTW you have to be a bit of a track fan to know who Mark Witherspoon, Billy Olsen, Freddie Williams, and Mike Boit are, so they aren't exactly "famous."
I've met Paris and Nicky Hilton and had a threesome with them, not that I'm bragging as probably most people have.
The difference was mine was for charity:

What a coincidence, I think I was the guy who went just before you.

Muhammad Ali, Sean Penn
I met Ali, when I was working on a TV show and he was on the same lot shooting a commercial (1997) Our crew went over to say hi, he charmed us with magic tricks, threw a left jab at me (luckily he purposely missed). Even though his Parkinson's was pretty advanced, he was still quite the charismatic presence. Re Penn: Delivered food to him (mid 90's) Polite, unpretentious, good tipper

Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson from Megadeth. Cool dudes.
Met them both too. They were cool dudes. Also met their original lead guitarist, Chris Poland, when he was playing bass with the Circle Jerks. I didn't know who he was, but he was gracious and personable. Not knowing anything about Megadeth at the time, I asked him what albums he recommended listening to. He told me which ones he'd played on (the first two) and suggested I check out those, which I did.
I also met Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone.
Johnny was very nice and offered me a guitar pick for a souvenir before they played their show.
Dee Dee just asked me if I knew where he could get some coke.
