What happened to him in the 3K?
What happened to him in the 3K?
7:46 for 3rd
he is training for the Boston Marathon, 7:46 in that type of training is pretty damn good if you ask me. Would you ask yourself if something was wrong if you ran 7:46?? I dont think so
looks to me like he's in 7:46 shape
that is good effort for someone who may be doing well over 110 miles a week and who knows what kind of base he put in before this point... you do know that weeks and weeks of 120 miles will make one a little bit slower espeically if there is no real track oriented work in there... to run 7:46 twice is good off of i am assuming fartlek runs, tempo runs and hill repeats...
i think he recently ran a mile too in the low 4's??
Yes, he also ran this this year...
One Mile
4:01.46i SB (16) 1 Boston MA 5 Feb
3000 m
7:46.60i SB (7) 1 BU Inv Boston MA 28 Jan
Pretty good results so far for him. He'll probably train for a bit now
really good results for him considering he's preparing for the Boston Marathon but on the side:he's a 7:30 and 13:03 man!
If he is running Boston, one of the biggest mistakes he could make would be working too much on his speed. 3 weeks before the Olympics Dan Browne ran 13:16 and I immediately said that Alberto has him doing too much speed and he will be useless in the marathon. I was right.
Mark told me that he's gonna come back to Manchester.
Oh yeah, and a 4:01 and a 7:46 are great times for this point in the season. Like the previous post says though, he should watch out not to peak too early.
Anybody know his mile PR?

the day you train a quality runner in the marathon and you can consistently have the athlete perform well over the distance then you can talk.
And if you were to achieve this, then you wouldn't be posting mundane comments on these forums.
he is preparing for the europeans in march, him and cragg are going to roll in the 3k, no 1 and 2 in europe right now..

If yuo're going to try and bash alberto...at least don't be a complete idiot. Him going 1316 had nothing to do with his marathon performance. If you want to make a point that could make a little sense you could aim towards the 10k he ran at the olympics prior to the marathon.

there are none so blind as those who cannot see
Mark has run the mile in 3:50.6 (2000 I believe)
at home in Ireland after athens most people in athletics Ireland said he was finsihed(Irish runner)owen)
for mark to be back running 7.46 is a testament to the mans hard work and commitment to the sport.there is a really good marathon left in his legs and maybe it wont be this year.he is running European Indoors with Cragg.
well done mark and keep it up.
