D3 Atlantic Region XC 2016

Just putting it out there because I want hype, SUNY New Paltz doesnt graduate anyone from the top 7 and has at least 7 guys capable of going under 27. This doesn't mean they'll get a spot at nationals but they could squeek into a top 10 spot.

Is it just me or are we spending too much time talking about teams that aren't Geneseo?

This thread is pathetic. We need to get some things straight here. All teams from New Jersey are irrelevant. You guys cannot perform when it counts, your courses are all extremely fast and not representative of your actual talent, and you're from NEW JERSEY. Andrew from TCNJ is probably the only respectable runner in your garbage state. Fredonia? Please. You turds need to get back to training. New Paltz? Is that a joke? When was the last time your team was even remotely relevant? Probably a bunch of basic sophomore boys who are super excited for the season to start. But I'm sure you are the kind of hobby joggers who get excited when you break 29 minutes. Utica - you have maybe one decent runner, and you're track team was carried by NG and the sprinting crew. It's embarrassing that your team was even mentioned on this thread. It's full of mediocre runners who aren't even close to cracking the top 7. I would seriously bet that 95% of posts here are by guys who have not broken 28 minutes. This entire region is embarrassing.

The only teams worth talking about here are Geneseo, RPI, and SLU. Realistically, the committee is only going to take the two qualifying teams to nationals. Everyone else should just quit cross country because youre hobby jogging attitudes are killing this region and the sport.

Oneonta loses Angelo Posillico as head coach. Anyone know where he went to? Seemed to do a good job with the program, will be a big hit (not that the team is really a contender anyway)

The men might not be that good but the Oneonta women finished 6th last year and bring back their top 6 runners. Could be devastating for them if they hire the wrong replacement.

I'm probably biased, but Oneonta could be good this year. They return their top 3, and had 3 freshman run well in the mile through 10k in track. So based on general improvement and returners they should be able to compete better than their 10th place last year

Saying "my team might have the ability to go top 10 this year" is essentially saying "I know that my team will be irrelevant the whole season, but I really like seeing it written on the internet!"

Fischer is going to surprise a lot of people this season. You heard it here first.

I may have missed this but when did Mike Howard leave SLU for Plattsburgh? Must have been some bad blood for him to leave. Certainly a huge loss for SLU.

Strong words coming from someone who couldn't even make it onto a division one squad. Relax, your division--aside from that one geneseo kid-- is mostly comprised of wannabe's and you shouldn't take it so seriously.

There are a lot of fantastic DIII runners. Nick Symmonds and Will Leer to name a few. It's important to ensure that athletes of all calibers receive attention, that way stand outs and up-and-comers receive appropriate accolades. Different people have different needs and opportunities. Those in a DIII school may want more time competing, so chose a lower division to do so. I know a few very fast runners who regretted going to the highest division simply because of the high stress and low play time. The other divisions offer different opportunities and equally exciting races. In endurance sports, your division doesn't matter nearly as much as your time. The clock reads the same across all divisions, therefore, a sub four miler is sub four in every division. It's not like baseball, where your batting average is greatly influenced by who's pitching
