The zoo sniper should have shot the gorilla as soon as possible. I am sorry that the gorilla had to be killed, but it could have decided at any second to do something to the child and/or unintentionally hurt him.

there are more americans than gorillas in the usa.

Lots of hypocrisy on this thread but don't attack the mother. Unless you are a helicopter parent (which letsrunners would strongly disapprove of) or have the kid on a leash, it doesn't take minutes of parental inattention for a kid to get into trouble. It can happen in seconds and with even the best of parents, as anyone who's had young kids knows.
BS
Bullshit
Bullshit to the nth degree. A parent who lets their child crawl into a gorilla exhibit is incompetent (putting it nicely). And a parent who is attentive enough to prevent their child from letting their child crawl into the gorilla exhibit is hardly a "helicopter parent".
Truth in advertising: Parent of 4 - none of whom have wandered into gorilla exhibits.

Maybe you had your kids on leashes, or medicated into zombie-like states, Mr. "Parent of 4" but most parents allow their kids some free rein. The only incompetence lies with a zoo that negligently designed a gorilla enclosure in such a way a child could get into it. Every other zoo I've ever been to had child-proof gorilla enclosures.

Did you let the zoo use your kids to test that?
are you freaking kidding me. Too soon? This isn't gorilla's in the midst. That boy was in immediate danger.
I would have preferred that they used a tranquilizer gun.
Too late now.
Tough call.
What the heck was the mom doing?
Unfortunately, yeah it was the right call. They probably should have shot the gorilla sooner. I don't know much about gorillas but I do know they are unpredictable and very powerful. If he decided to kill the kid it wouldn't have taken long at all. It didn't look like he was hurting the boy but things can change faster than a tranquilizer dart can work. Too bad. I don't know how culpable the mother was / how easy it was to get into the enclosure but probably both are to blame.
Yes, anyone who disagrees with this hasn't seen the full unedited video. Watch it. The speed he went over to him is unbelievable.

On the other hand, maybe I did not, moron.
I allowed my kids plenty of free reign. I also knew when and where it was important to keep an eye on them. Sorry if that is a concept that is above your incredibly limited mental abilities.
ANY parent that would allow their child "free reign" to wander into a gorilla exhibit is incompetent - really worse than simply incompetent, a danger to the welfare of their own child. This is not even disputable.
And sorry if you are completely incompetent, stupid or most likely both.

Tranquilizer gun is a nice idea BUT those do not work fast enough and would endanger the child when the gorilla became agitated or even enraged after being shot with the tranquilizer and before it had had time to put him to sleep.
To the OP,
Your post is even dumber than any actors in this instance. Award damages to the family of the gorilla? That's not legally possible numbskull, for one gorillas can't bring lawsuits, and what person has suffered a legal harm? And I don't think "improper supervision" or "improper enclosure" is a crime. You can't even put a proper sentence together, so I'm guessing the basics of our legal system are well beyond you though.
Why's everyone so concerned with what the mother did or did not do? What about the father? Was his thumb up his ass when he should have been watching the kid?
not soon enough, IMO wrote:

fixed that for you
and BTW the gorilla can't sue because he was only 17 and a minor.

The child is black and his name is Isaiah. So the answer is yes.
Also, what kind of a monster recorded the incident on her cell phone? "Maybe this will get me the most likes eh-vurr."

When you called me dumb and a "numbskull" I get the feeling that you want me to feel bad about myself. Now that is not a very nice thing to do nor is it wise.
When I said, "In the case of any civil suit all proceeds should go to the family of the gorilla" 95% of the readers knew that was funny satire and very few took that literally.
You were in that very small group that took it literally......I won't say anymore about that because that would be unkind.
So how hard will it be to replace the gorilla and how much do they cost? Can't they just go down to PetSmart and buy another gorilla?

But he is the father of my child.
