I suggest that Dimeo should contact Yannis Pitsiladis and the two nutcases can work together on their latest academic theories.
Yannis Pitsiladis did research where he gave marathon runners 500mL of cream to drink before running because he thought that would increase fat burning and improve performance.
I fail to see anything nutcase in his doctoral research some twenty years ago. You have a hypothesis and you test it. Perhaps the research didn't verify the underlying assumption, but that is how the science works.
Even when wrong, I respect the intellectual contributions of people such as Verner Moller, Paul Dimeo, John Hoberman and Bernat López. We do need an environment in which we do not take any anti-doping policies as if they were written in the stone plates of Moses, but we should constantly review the policies and alter them, if necessary.
As it is apparent from the works of aforementioned authors, there are many instances where anti-doping policies have been based on fallacious information, exaggerations and hysteria. Perhaps the individual decisions have been mostly sound, but the body of evidence behind the hysteria has been dubious in many instances.
