i am sure there has been threads on this sort of stuff before but i searched and couldn't find any. then agianmaybe im the first to bring it up. Specifically as a middle distance runner, (tough feel free to comment on any distance), which is better to build first, endurance or speed? last year in highschool i trained for cross lightly, so built up a small base, then indoors it was all speed work, and outdoors finally focused on strength, like 200-400 repeats workouts. This year i built a much stronger base in cross, and during indoor im building strength, but with slightly longer interval workouts, like 400's mostly. The plan is then to do speed when the weather warms up. As of right now, my 800 times are way down from what i was running last year outdoors ( even a little down from what i ran indoors). Whats ur take on this, what orders should u build these things in? how much should they overlap?
