Chespol is 2nd on the all time list for Steeplechase.

Weak event. 8:58 is probably worth 3:57 for 1500, if that. That said, she will take it under 8:50 for sure.

Chespol is good in the steeplechase. She is not breaking 2:00 in the 800 and not breaking 4:00 in the 1500. Klosterhalfen may just do that in Rome in a couple of days.
Laura Muir better watch out in the next couple of years. She is going to have some stiff competition from KK! I hope she runs some meets stateside.

I was tempted to disagree that it is still a weak event now, but I suppose you're right. I figure that if you are good at the SC, your 3000m time and 3000m SC time should be about 30 seconds apart. Running 8:58 for a steeple should be considered about as good as an 8:30 3k. And an 8:30 3k would be world class without doubt, but it wouldn't be anything anyone raises an eyebrow about, and it's about as good as a 3:57. So, yeah, I think the women's steeple still has a long way to go before it starts being an event that lots want to watch. Most of the women are like 9:10-9:20.
She is by far the most talented german runner in a very long time and she keeps crushing her PBs.
She is the best german runner from 800 to 10k (minus 3k sc). She will run sub4 in Rome for sure and it will be interesting to see which distance(s) she picks for London and the future major events.
She even has the skills to run low 30s for 10k if she wants to. Incredible range.
Another sub4 for Klosterhalfen in the German Championships
3:59,58
66/64/63/46.5
Alone at the front from 600m
She won by 10 seconds.
Nice run
62 last 400 looking relaxed, even better
Today, Klosterhalfen won her heat at the European under 23 Championships in Bydgoszcz easily.
She jogged a 4:13.07 and still won by more than 4 seconds.
Final is on Sunday.
She took 3 1/2 seconds out of Ennaoui in the final 800m. Stunning performance
Last two laps: 59.5, 62.1 for KK. About two seconds off her 800 PR.
Ennaoui amazing to see from behind....
How old is this girl?
You guys seriously think she'll get better? She's super thin and has terrible form. Injury waiting to happen and won't bounce back from it.
Her form is similar to Mary Cain and Sifan Hassan. Almost no arm drive at all. Not very esthetic, but gets the job done I guess. Ennaoui looked like she was in a flat out sprint as KK loped along.
I'm a fan but she might have trouble even making the final in London.
But, next year...and the year after...
people complaining about form a usually no names that haven't achieved anything as an athlete or coach

Or successful coaches who have both helped some athletes improve with form and watched some never control their form/weight and drift into obscurity. Honestly how hard is it to understand.
She is too light, so she won't be able to recover well. If her form was perfect maybe she could get away with this for longer but it's not, she's going to get hurt. She will never make an Olympics.
