I agree.
And think of how us low-to-mid 70s master's guys feel. Yeah, we are beyond the local group statistically, but are often beaten by guys within the local pool of runners--and then when compared to the national level guys, we look like nothing. It sometimes makes me question why I even run.
I have to admit to being confused by this. My age-graded performances are generally 80-85% and I don't feel at all like I'm very fast compared to some of the studs that beat me. But maybe my area (NorCal) is just really competitive? I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to comp me an entry anywhere.
